We at Tatawaw see the disbelief and rage of our friends, family, and country towards the violence and hate unfolding in Charlottesville. We invite you to the Beaver Hills House Park from 5 to 5:30PM today for what we are calling a kanatan ceremony - which will be a smudging ceremony to send our thoughts and prayers to those who need it in Charlottesville. In cree, the root words of Canada (kunatun and kunatisiw) mean clean and sacred. So let us embody the spirit of these lands and gather in peace and friendship to make Turtle Island a clean and sacred space for all.
