CRA is extending the payment due date for current year individual, corporate, and trust income tax returns, including installment payments, from September 1, 2020, to September 30, 2020. Penalties and interest will not be charged if payments are made by the extended deadline of September 30, 2020. This includes the late-filing penalty as long as the return is filed by September 30, 2020. The CRA is also waiving interest on existing tax debts related to individual, corporate,... and trust income tax returns from April 1, 2020, to September 30, 2020 and from April 1, 2020, to June 30, 2020, for goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax (GST/HST) returns. The previously extended filing due dates for individual, corporate, and trust income tax returns remain unchanged. However, recognizing the difficult circumstances faced by Canadians, the CRA will not impose late-filing penalties where a current year individual, corporation, or trust return is filed late provided that it is filed by September 30, 2020.
Thank you Mark!
Basic Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) The CEWS is based on the number and type of employees you have, and the amount and type of pay they received before and during the COVID-19 crisis. The basic maximum is $847 per week. This will generally be the amount for employees who earn $1,129.33 a week or more.... For employees who earn less than $1,129.32 a week, the amount of the CEWS subsidy is generally 75% of the employee's weekly pay. Employers are also eligible for a subsidy of up to 75% of salaries and wages paid to new employees. Special rules apply in certain situations, including for "non-arm's length" employees. In general terms, these are employees such as the business owner or his or her family members. For these employees, the CEWS is limited to the least of the following amounts: -75% of "baseline remuneration" (in general terms, average weekly pay for the employee during the period January 1, 2020 to March 15, 2020) -$847 -the amount of eligible remuneration paid for the week #taxation #tax #accounting #taxes #taxseason #accountant #finance #taxrefund #business #taxreturn #taxpreparer #incometax #bookkeeping #gst #accountingservices #taxplanning #payroll #taxprofessional #taxtips #covid19 #covid19relied #directoroffinance #controller #payroll
