! It is important to pay attention to signs of elder abuse especially during times like these when many people have been confined largely to their homes in response to COVID-19. It is estimated that six to 10 per cent of seniors aged 65 and over residing in Ontario are abused. Elder abuse can show up in many different forms: physical, emotional, mental and verbal abuse, financial abuse, violation of rights and freedoms, neglect, syst...emic abuse and sexual abuse. : - contact the police if you have immediate concerns about an older adult’s safety. - contact the Seniors' Safety Line (1-866-299-1011): 24/7, confidential and free resource that provides information, referrals and support in over 150 languages for seniors experiencing abuse. - contact us for a confidential conversation! Together, we can create a network of caring and connections that keep seniors safe across our community!
June is ' in Ontario! This year’s theme is , . Although due to the current circumstances, we are not able to physically celebrate with our seniors this month, we look forward to some virtual celebrations instead ! During this time of the pandemic, seniors are encouraged to stay at home, which in turn, can leave them feeling socially isolated. Physical distancing =/= Social Isolation. If you know a senior in your life, remember to stay conn...ected with them! TransCare community programs have gone virtual! If you know a senior who may be able to take advantage of our social programs, drop us a message and we can reach out to them! Happy Seniors' Month! , !
Though the weather is looking a tad bit gloomy today, we received some sunshine in the mail, thanks to our friends at CICS Youth Hub . . Volunteers at CICS handmade these lovely cards to cheer on our frontline workers and show appreciation for their dedicated work in the community. Thank you CICS - Canada Immigration CICS Youth Hub for thinking of us! #weareinthistogether #communityovercovid... https://www.instagram.com/p/CAxsizpBQFH/?igshid=50770dhhcyzx
Today is #PersonalSupportWorkerDay across Ontario! Personal Support Workers (PSWs) are the heavy lifters of the healthcare system. They often work under the supervision and clinic plan developed by a licensed health professional. Approximately 35% of all PSWs in Ontario work in the home and community sector, providing a range of critical services that help reduce the need for hospital care, emergency room visits, or long-term care. Thank you to our #frontlineheroes who work tirelessly in the community providing high quality care in both ordinary, and extraordinary, unprecedented times!
Today is World Hand Hygiene Day! Hand hygiene has never been more important! Frequent handwashing is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of infection and viruses. Pledge Clean Hands to tell the world you commit to cleaning your hands.
