It is estimated that six to 10 per cent of seniors aged 65 and over residing in Ontario are abused. Although due to the current circumstances, we are not able to physically celebrate with our seniors this month, we look forward to some virtual celebrations instead ! During this time of the pandemic, seniors are encouraged to stay at home, which in turn, can leave them feeling socially isolated. Physical distancing =/= Social Isolation. Today is #PersonalSupportWorkerDay across Ontario! Personal Support Workers (PSWs) are the heavy lifters of the healthcare system. They often work under the supervision and clinic plan developed by a licensed health professional. Approximately 35% of all PSWs in Ontario work in the home and community sector, providing a range of critical services that help reduce the need for hospital care, emergency room visits, or long-term care.
