Even though Christmas might look a bit different this year, we look forward to worshipping our Saviour who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Our Christmas Eve service will begin at 7pm both in person and online (zoom). Please note that our health and safety precautions remain in place. We ask everyone to wear a mask if they are medically able, there is hand sanitizer at the entrance, please observe the social distancing guidelines, and if you’re not feeling well, we would ask that you worship with us via zoom. Refugee Sponsorship Church Update for December 13, 2020 Believing that the Lord is leading us, Truth Community Church, Thamesford and Huron Park Baptist Church, Woodstock are working together to bring a refugee family of five from Beirut, Lebanon to our community.... We thank everyone for your prayers! The family is relatively safe and in good health. Over many hours Hanni Muhtar (HPBC) interviewed the family, helped them to answer the questions on the government application forms and translated documents into English or Arabic as needed. Their work has saved the family hundreds of dollars in translation fees. The Sponsorship Application has now moved on from the C&MA Office in Toronto to the Canadian Government in Ottawa! The most pressing need for the family now is for long-term (up to twelve months) housing. Charles and Gail Baines (TCC) have graciously offered to provide short-term accommodations for the family at their home in Woodstock when, by God’s will, they first arrive in Canada. Here are two ways you can help today: 1. Pray for: safety for the family in Lebanon long-term rental accommodations - up to 12 months (3-bedroom apartment or house) the Application to be approved by Ottawa and sent on to the CDN Consulate in Lebanon volunteers to help pick up donated items 2. Donations of: furniture couches, dressers, tables, lamps, chairs, etc. kitchenware dishes, pots/pans, small appliances, radio, utensils, etc. monetary tax receipts provided your time please speak to your church Refugee Sponsorship representatives Many donations have been gratefully received - many more are still needed. Here is a Refugee Sponsorship Update for week of November 7, 2020 Believing that the Lord is leading us to work together, Truth Community Church, Thamesford and Huron Park Baptist Church, Woodstock are eagerly working to accomplish His will. The Lord has tasked us with bringing a refugee family of five from Syria (presently living in Lebanon) to Canada. Sponsorship application forms will be submitted to the Government soon, and our family co...uld possibly arrive in 2021. Both churches graciously agreed to support them financially for one year with a total of $30,460 raised to date. The funds are for furniture, rent, food, clothing, and other living expenses. Picture yourself coming to a foreign country with all your earthly possessions packed in a suitcase and leaving your country, home, family, friends, and neighbours behind! Here are two ways you can help today: 1. Pray for: safety for the family while in Lebanon submitted government applications to be approved quickly accommodations for twelve months (3-bedroom apartment or home) volunteers to assist with the many settlement tasks 2.
