Hello! Join me for another night of restorative yoga. Tonight's class we are going to do some breathing work that I call 'straw breath.'' Straw breath is a really interesting experience as it helps us slow the breath right down and tap into the down regulating side of our nervous system. We will also explore the role the rib cage plays as we breathe.. We will dive right into that and throughout the class.... You will need a straw, some wall space, a firm folded blanket, 2 lrg pillows, and a chair. We are going to work into the hips & shoulders, explore some twisting, with a focus on quieting our nervous system. I wish I had a dime for how many people come to me with tight hip flexors thinking they need to stretch them out.. Stretching out your hip flexors typically leaves with you with short term results... And then wham! They’re tight again. Good news, there is another way...... Consider this... that pain is not where the problem is... instead pain is an expression that some kind of bio mechanical imbalance is happening, it’s just happening under our level of awareness. This is often the case with hip flexors. If this landing for you in any way I’d live for you to give this a go.. Here’s a short exploration on exactly that....
