Long weekend and it’s Toronto Carnival but not really this year. Ah feelin ah Tabanca as Trinis say. Tabanca - Noun. tabanca (uncountable) (Caribbean) melancholy, or a painful feeling of unrequited love. This Tabanca is taking me back all the way to 2005, the first and only time I played mas in Trinidad at 32. The energy, the people, the music under the glorious hot sun and wide open blue sky is really something to experience. My young mind was always mesmerized ...by the confidence of Carnival women adorning the most exquisite pieces of art on their body. . . And my they are tiny! I thought the beading accessory over my bikini piece in this pic was my necklace Carnival gave birth to my lifelong passion for beautiful skin and even now enhances the love I put into my body care. To think, I once returned from feting and crushed my eyeshadow up, mixing it into my body oil to sparkle the nights away like a star and to feel as confident and beautiful as the women of Carnival everyday.
