He won 2 Stanley Cups as a player with Boston (1970, 1972) and 3 more as the senior advisor for hockey operations with Pittsburgh (2009, 2016, 2017), an organization he served in various capacities for 25 years. He was the last NHL goaltender to play every minute of every game in a season, in 196364. The senior statesman among the Team Canada 72 players, his teammates called him "Dad".

HAPPY 77th BIRTHDAY YVAN COURNOYER Born in Drummondville, QC on November 22, 1943 Yvan won the Conn Smythe Trophy and 10 Stanley Cups, was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982, named one of the Top 100 NHL Players of All-Time and finished his NHL career with 1,115 games played, 492 goals, 498 assists and 990 points. In 8 Summit Series games Yvan tallied 3 goals and 2 assists for 5 points in 8 games and was one of only 8 Team Canada skaters to play in every game.
