We all know that Windsor has the best pizza in the world - Today, I was pleased to join Tourism Windsor Essex, and Mayor Drew Dilkens, to announce that the Government of Canada is contributing over $41,000 to support the launch of the Windsor Pizza Club, through the Canadian Experiences Fund, that has provided over $58 million in direct funding to support tourism. The Windsor Pizza Club is free to join. Residents of Windsor-Essex and guests of our region, can visit one of t...he eight participating locations and pick up their membership card, including Arcata Pizzeria, Antonino's Original Pizza, Armando's, Giovanni Caboto Club, Capri Pizzeria, Franco's Restaurant, Oven 360 Walker rd and Sam's Pizzeria & Cantina. Club members can visit all eight locations and get their card stamped and once it's full redeem it at windsorpizzaclub.ca to have their commemorative t-shirt delivered directly to their door. I was honoured to recognize the Windsor International Film Festival in the House today. Under the bold leadership of Dr. Vincent Georgie, WIFF quickly adapted to COVID transforming Festival Plaza on the Detroit River into WIFF Under the Stars the only drive-in movie theatre in the world on an international border! Congratulations WIFF - and thank you to the 300+ volunteers who make it a great success!

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, announced our commitment to Ford Motor Company of Canada’s investment in its Oakville Assembly Complex. This project, valued at $1.84 billion, will include federal and provincial contributions of $295 million each. This investment will help secure 5,400 well-paying middle class jobs across Ford’s production workforce in Canada and grow our green economy, especially in regions like #WindsorEssex where thousands of Canadians are employed across the auto supply chain. Battery-electric vehicle (BEV) production is in line with the Government of Canada’s commitment to sustainable growth. Electrification will allow us to position the innovative Canadian automotive industry as a global leader in BEV manufacturing.

The Daughters of the Vote 2021 program sign up has been extended to October 14th, 2020. Last years representative from Windsor-Tecumseh, Hannah had this to say about the program: "In 2019, I represented Windsor-Tecumseh for the Daughter's of the Vote program, not only did the program help me understand the Canadian political system but it also provided training on running a political campaign, networking with politicians and a chance to sit in the House of Commons" If you know a young women or a gender-diverse youth in #WindsorTecumseh, who would be interested in the online national campaign school, designed to equip individuals with the skills, knowledge and resources they need to run for political office please tag them in this post.
