This year we were thinking of doing a bottle drive to raise funds for the team, but because of covid, this isn't really possible. Instead, we've set up an account at the Return-It bottle recycler. The great thing about the account is you can use any Return-It recycler in BC and use the Return-It Express feature. All you need to do is put your bottles and cans in a clear plastic bag, drop it at the Return-It window and go. No sorting and no lineups! Later on, the Return-It... employees will sort the bottles and cans and then credit our account. On the bag you need to write the following: - Team Richards - 250-897-2892 - E133985 If you live in the Comox Valley and are not able to drop off the bottles and cans at the Courtenay Return-It, please direct message us, and we will arrange to pick up what you have to donate. What an awesome weekend! Kate came over and we got on the ice for the first time since March. We had our first practice on Saturday and then had a 75 minute meeting with Penny Shantz, Diane Gushulak, Grace MacInnes and 5 time Scotties Champ Mary-Anne A! Then on Sunday, we got to play a 6 end game against the ladies. At one point we were even up in the game, but then quickly got put in our place! Thank you so much for the time you gave us. It was an experience we will never forget.

We lost in the gold medal game, but what a game it was. Congrats to Team Rempel from Kelowna who took home the gold. Also, congrats to Team Parkinson, from the CVCC, who also won silver. We had a great time in Fort St John at the BC Winter Games. Pretty awesome 24hrs. We had a great time at the opening ceremonies last night and then we won both our games today. We are on the top of Pool B going into our last round robin game tomorrow morning. The boys team from Comox is also doing awesome and is at the top of their pool. We are trying to live stream the games, but so far it’s been a struggle. Pretty crazy weekend. Two extremely close games that could have gone either way, but in the end, we booked our tickets to our 4th straight U18 provincials. Congrats to Team Douglas who will also be representing the island on the girls side. Next up for us is the BC Winter Games, where we hope to repeat our gold medal performance from two years ago.

We are at our home club this weekend for the U18 Provincial Playdowns. Come down and cheer us on at 2 pm and 7 pm today!

What a night! Packed house for our annual Beer and Burger fundraiser. Thank you to the sponsors, family, friends and fans for coming out. We are off to the B.C. Winter Games to defend our title from two years ago. We won our best of three yesterday against Team Woike at the Lake Cowichan Curling Club. Congrats to the boys team from the Comox Valley Curling Club who also won their best of three. We will be representing Zone 6 (Vancouver Island) at the games in February in Fort St John. We won our game against Team Taylor at the U18 Open Event in Kamloops and Curl BC handed out the hardware to our rink for Club of the Year and the Ron Houston Administrator of the Year for the 2018/19 season. What a great weekend. Our first attempt at trying to qualify for the U21 Provincials and we made it! Thanks to the Kerry Park Curling Club who hosted the event. Provincial’s are in Victoria and run from December 27th to January 2nd. New Years in Vic!! Next up for the team is the U18 open event in Kamloops, December 13th to 15th.

Team Richards is the reigning BC Winter Games champion and we are looking for a 4th player for the upcoming BC Winter Games playdown. If successful, we would also need the person for the BCWG's in Fort St. John (Feb 20th to 23rd). You need to be 15 years or under as of Dec. 31 and have some experience curling competitively. We have so much to be thankful for today. After a third place finish and two second place finishes we won our first tour event! Thank you to the organizers of the Optimist Jr Cashpiel. Thanks to the other teams that we get to see every other weekend. It has been a lot of fun this year. But most importantly thank you to the people in our country who have sacrificed everything so that we can do things like play the game of curling. We love it and appreciate it.

What a fantastic weekend away in Vernon at the Rick Cotter Memorial. We ended up losing a close one in the semi finals, picked up a bunch of tour points and we won the sportsmanship award. Thank you to Jim, Chelan and the entire Cotter family. Thanks to the Vernon Curling Club and to Doug and Herb, the umpires for the weekend. Very special thanks to Madeline Britz who stepped in as lead for us this weekend. We had a blast Maddy. The Jr Tour has been a lot of fun this year, as we get to know all the teams better. Another awesome weekend away on the #CurlBC Jr Tour. We went 2-2 in the round robin of the Golden Ears Junior Bonspiel in Maple Ridge and won our consolation game to finish in 7th place overall. It was an exciting weekend of curling as both losses were only by the smallest of misses. Thank you to the Golden Ears Winter Club, CurlBC, our sponsors, our fans and all the other teams competing.
