Hey Siri, Technology for Living rocks! If you are the owner of an iPhone or an iPad, you may want to watch this video showing Paul Gauthier, a member of Technology for Living and the Executive Director of the Individualized Funding Resource Centre Society. Paul is using 100% voice control to access his phone. This includes swiping up and unlocking the iPhone. Check it out and if you are a member (or want to become one!) and think setting up this functionality is something that may be helpful to you, contact Technology for Living! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YETwIuCuy9I
It's the time of the month again: the WE TALK TECH guys are back with another show. Wayne Pogue and Ean Price welcomed another guest this time, a new Technology for Living team member, Taylor Danielson, who is introducing one of his very own 3d-printed inventions. Watch the video and see how this pedal lever may be of use to you. As a bonus our peers can get it printed by TIL. Wayne & Ean are also discussing smart lighting. With a great idea offered by Taylor how to put these switches to excellent use. This is the last show before Christmas. So, from everyone's favourite TECH guys: have a great holiday! https://youtu.be/r9v0nEUpZmo
The story told in this piece from Singapore sounds familiar, doesn't it? https://mothership.sg/2020/08/disabilities-blind-spots-sg/
The global re-shaping of old age, along with shifting disability policies, practices, and narratives, impact the ways in which old age with a disability is understood and lived in Switzerland. But it is of course as pertinent in Canada. A very timely piece opening up a discussion that is very necessary.
Here is a piece of advice that hopefully will be taken serious by employers who are saying they are ready to hire people living with a disability: don’t play the compliance game and simply check a box for accessibility for people with disabilities.
https://youtu.be/z5uKyJ7rojc The Tech guys are back with another episode of their chat show. Wayne Pogue and Ean Price are being joined by a guest today, Richard Harrison, Special Projects Coordinator at Technology for Living. The topic of this month's discussion: Automatic Door Openers for people who cannot open doors without technology. A bit of the history of the Door Opener program, switches that can be incorporated and so much more! Go and check it out. And don't forget: the next episode will be coming up at the beginning of next month!
