"My biggest fear was that I peaked in high school. When I was in second year, my self-esteem was lower than my grades. I wasn’t doing nearly as well as I hoped, and to make it worse, I constantly compared myself to my high school me. In grade 12, I was everything I wanted to be, but all of that changed once I started at Western. I constantly had low marks, became very insecure about my appearance, and I had a very hard time dealing the workload of university. I was disappoint...ed in myself and genuinely thought I already lived my best years. However, that changed when I got into fourth year. I started focussing on how to get closer to my goals and spent all day on campus either in class, the library, or doing some fun extracurriculars. I even got a couple of awards that, in addition to my existing self-satisfaction, made me feel on top of the world. I was making impact in ways I never thought I’d be able to, and it felt better than words could’ve described! Until I started worrying that I peaked in university. I joined the Pre-Business faculty in May 2016 and my goal was to do incredible things. However, I constantly worried that I wouldn’t be able to replicate my success from fourth year. I was so worried about being a has-been that I started getting anxiety before every class I’d teach. Somehow, I was fortunate enough to feel satisfaction through experiences that blew all my past success out the water, and just like before, I felt great. However, this time, I didn’t worry that I peaked because I know I never will. I learned that everything WILL work out as long as you’re willing to keep working until it does. No matter what adversity you go through getting bad marks on exams, getting rejected from your dream program or job, or even living in fear of having already peaked All of that is immaterial and temporary, as long as you’re willing to work until you’re happy with the way things are. Once I realized this, it gave me the confidence to stay calm through the bad times in my life, and hopeful during the good ones. I know now that life will always get better, things will always work out, because I won’t stop hustling until they do." #TEDxWesternU #IdeasWorthSpeading

"This past Sunday, our team of dedicated students, alumni, and staff were honoured to host TEDxWesternU: Colliding Worlds; to share this inspiring experience to our in-person and online audience. To all our incredible sponsors and tech staff, we appreciate your support immensely - this would not have been possible without you! And to you, the delegates, the viewers, thank you. You are the lifeblood of this organization. Without your participation, your interest and your passion for learning, we wouldn't have an audience. Without an audience we would never be able to share these ideas; these ideas worth spreading." - Tim
