COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program: Applications Begin July 13 The Government of Ontario is making $9 million available to support residential customers struggling to pay their energy bills because of COVID-19. The COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) provides a one-time, on-bill credit to eligible residential electricity and natural gas customers to help them catch up... on their energy bills and resume regular payments. Electricity and natural gas utilities and unit sub-meter providers (USMPs) will begin accepting applications for CEAP on July 13, 2020, delivering the program in accordance with rules laid out by the OEB. CEAP funding is limited, with utilities and USMPs expected to process applications in the order in which they are received. Please note, submitting an application does not guarantee funding. To apply for CEAP funding, customers should contact their utility or USMP directly. For more information, including eligibility requirements and on-bill credit amounts, visit oeb.ca/ceap.

The Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF) is a $350 million emergency funding program from the Government of Canada. In collaboration with the Canadian Red Cross and United Way Centraide Canada, Community Foundations Canada is proud to be involved in the allocation of funding. The fund is designed to help Canada’s most vulnerable populations during the COVID-19 crisis. The global pandemic has left no community untouched, and it is having a disproportionate impact on vulnera...ble Canadians who are less equipped to deal with its health, social and economic impacts. ECSF will provide a much-needed boost to organizations on the frontlines, while we also continue our efforts to secure the funding and support required for the stabilization and recovery phases ahead. For all of the details (including eligibility criteria), please see the ECSF Applicant Guide (in the comments section, or by following this link: https://www.communityfoundations.ca//emergency-community-/ ). With more people out and about, and some aspects of our lives returning to "new normal", more people have been interested in wearing masks and face coverings when social distancing is not possible. The following link will lead to a few sets of instructions (sewing instructions and no-sew instructions) that can help you to make a homemade face covering to help prevent the spread of your respiratory droplets. If possible, you should use different fabrics for each side of the fa...ce covering, so you know which side faces your mouth and which side is out. https://www.canada.ca//sew-no-sew-instructions-non-medical Happy mask making!

As of June 1, backcountry camping will be available at Ontario Parks, including access points, paddle and portage routes, and hiking trails. Ontario is also reopening recreational camping on Crown land. Following current provincial restrictions, no more than 5 people will be allowed to occupy a backcountry campsite during their stay, unless they live in the same household. It is also important to continue to adhere to other public health advice, such as practicing physical distancing, wearing a face covering when physical distancing is a challenge, and frequent hand washing. The closure of all other overnight camping and some day-use activities at provincial parks and conservation reserves has been extended to June 14 and will continue to be reassessed.
