Just in time! Well not really. In a Covid World nothing is on time. We imported some patio furniture from Italy and it finally arrived on a snowy afternoon. This represents about half of our new outdoor furniture. The rest is due from our friends in London in SW Ontario. Hopefully we'll get the rest of our water toys before Spring as well. We thought that the locals were joking about boating with an axe just in case your ropes freeze. That's all folks! We're officially closed for the season. Although we've been the owner type people of the lodge since 2006, 2020 marked the first year that we were here at this old lodge (That sounds like a podcast title if I ever heard one). It was an ideal year to get out of the South and begin our Northern adventure. We really thought that we'd cruise through the season with a slower pace but, wow, what a year. We were fortunate to welcome many new guests (and new fr...iends) here at the lodge as we transition to our low-key, low-impact style of holiday. Folks have asked what that means. We think the best way to describe it is we want our guests (who we fondly refer to as campers) to enjoy a simpler way of life. Sunsets, hiking, bonfires, reading, kayaking, paddle boarding, outdoor games and old fashioned board games in the dancehall. A holiday that harkens back to a distant time. In other words we're big on the "re" words. Refresh Rejuvenate Reconnect (with nature & friends) Relax We could go on but you get the picture. A "digital detox". We could all use less screen time. Although it's the end of guest season, it's not the end of project season. Every year will mark progress as we fumble through running a lodge while we, hopefully, don't hurt ourselves in the process. We'll always maintain our sincere vintage roots as we muddle through these upgrades. With that, we continue with the Fall while prepare for Winter. I sometimes become a sentimental old fool at Thanksgiving. Even though it was just a few months ago I still reminisce about my old life. It seems it was a lifetime ago that I was flipping burgers and lived in a kitchen running one of the most popular restaurants in SW Ontario. As Thanksgiving rolls in we're welcoming a full house for the last weekend of the year.
