RETURN to Find God’s Will | January 17, 2021
Did you check out yesterday's service? Did you have any questions about the sermon? If yes, drop them here. We want to hear from you!
Hey families! What Child is this? See below for contest details! (DM us the name of the child and the photo location to win a prize!)Bonus entries for sharing the post! While you’re here, have you ever wondered about those three kings that we sing about every Christmas? They are often shown among the nativity scenes, carrying precious gifts fit only for a king, but gifts were not their main reason for coming. In the Gospel of Matthew 2:2 we read their reason for coming, an...d it is not merely to pay homage to a king, but rather to worship the Lord! They saw the signs and knew that the promises of God were being fulfilled so they came to worship. And the truth is, this is the only right response when we understand what it was that God was doing on that first Christmas. God Himself had come into this world to save His people. He sent messengers to tell of His coming and now, God Himself had arrived to fix the relationship with His people. Want more information about what it means to worship Jesus as king? Send us an email at [email protected] or dm us here and we will get back to you. Contest: What child is THIS? Give us the child's name and the correct location of the photo for your chance to win! Enter your guess in the comments below and correct responses will be entered into a draw for this week’s prize. Sharing this post gets you another entry into the draw. Winners will be announced and contacted by the end of day December 1 and prizes can be picked up at our Christmas Isn’t Cancelled Drive Thru on either Friday Dec. 11 or Saturday Dec. 12. This contest closes November 30. DM us your answer. This weeks prize is a family movie prize pack. :)

We already have 50 pairs of mittens for the children at Centennial Public School.Thank you to everyone who lovingly made those! Items can be made or store bought. Please bring them to church on Sunday or drop them off at the church office during the week.
These verses refer to Zion, the place where the Temple would be built, and where Jesus Himself would come. God was reaffirming His covenant with His people, that one day the King of kings would come to earth and take His place in Zion. David was looking forward to that day. We can now look at scripture and see how God kept His promise to David by sending Jesus as the sacrificial lamb. And we can look forward to when He will come again as the Lion of Judah, the King of kings!... Just think, one day we will be able to stand in the new Jerusalem and worship Him! God keeps His promises! Are you looking forward to that day? Prayer For Today: O God, my God, how I long for the day when You will come again. I'm listening for the trumpet call! You do keep Your promises. You did for David, and You do for me. Thank You, Lord! Until that day, may I shine for You each day. Help me to point others to You today. Give me courage to speak up for You! Help me not to be ashamed of the gospel of Christ. Help me to be clothed in Your righteousness today, and to live by faith! (Romans 1:16-17) Amen.
This entire psalm declares the suffering of Israel caused by affliction from its enemies and the resulting righteous punishment due them because of rejection of God and His Word. Vengeance is Mine, says the LORD. The truth presented here is that only those who are in right relationship with the LORD, through faith in Christ, will be blessed. Blessing in the name of the LORD suggests those blessings are given due to Christ’s name, i.e. His fame, reputation and total encompassing power in His act of human redemption. Prayer For Today: Mighty Triune God, we claim the promise of Your blessing that is given us only in the name of Your divine Son, Jesus the Christ. We pray for the redemption of those who, being blinded by Satan, reject and oppose You and Your Word.

Final HOPE in the Old Testament | Zechariah 9:12 What does it mean??? How does this happen? Two edges to HOPE.
Meshech and Kedar are place names: Meshech a far-off tribe, thousands of miles from Palestine in southern Russia; Kedar a wandering Bedouin tribe of barbaric reputation along Israel’s borders. They represent the strange and the hostile. Paraphrased, the cry is, I live in the midst of hoodlums and wild savages; this world is not my home and I want out. The usual biblical word describing the no we say to the world’s lies and the yes we say to God’s truth is repentance. It is ...always and everywhere the first word in the Christian life.(Eugene Peterson) We too live in a world hostile to our belief that All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. (2 Tim. 3:16, NLT) God longs for us to seek and pursue His peace (Psalm 34:14). When we say no to the lies of our world (I deserve my way), this is repentance. We are saying yes to God’s truth. God designed us, knows everything about us and knows what’s best for us (Psalm 139:1). When I am overwhelmed, You alone know the way I should turn.(Psalm 142:3a) Prayer For Today: O God, You are the Way Maker. You are the only all-wise and all-powerful God. God, my Father, Jesus, my Lord, Holy Spirit, Spirit of the living God, fill me with Your mercy, hope, peace and love today. Open my eyes to Your peace. Help me to have compassion for those around me who are feeling anxious, battling discouragement, hurting, feeling lonely and lost. Help me to share my hope in Jesus with them. Jesus Christ of Nazareth, protect me from the lies of the enemy (Satan) and the deceitfulness Scripture tells me is in my heart. (Jeremiah 2:13, Jeremiah 17:9, Proverbs 4:23). I thank You that You are always with me, Jesus, (Matt. 28:20) and helping me. Prepare my heart for what You want me to do today. Please set my day apart for Your purposes. Amen.
Psalm 132 starts with the psalmist reminding the LORD about all David went through in trying to serve Him. David worked hard to prepare a place for the LORD (vs.5). This is kind of what we are trying to do at Temple. We are working hard to prepare our building to be used as a place where the Lord will be lifted up as a lighthouse to our community. In verse 7 it says: Let us go to His dwelling place; let us worship at His footstool! We understand that God does not live... in our building, but in our hearts when we are believers in Him. But we can join together and worship at His footstool! Today, let us worship Him! Prayer For Today: Father, today we fall on our knees before You in humble worship. Just as You remember David, You remember us! You are all-knowing, all-present, almighty God. In reverence we bow before You. You are a holy and just God, showing mercy and grace and love to all who call on You. We worship You today! May we exalt Your name together! What comfort Your presence brings. I sought the LORD, and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. (Psalm 34:4-5) May we shine for You today as we bask in Your glory! Amen.

Fruit of the spirit. What does this have to do with our training? What character do we want to build? Galatians 5:22-23
So what is your blank this Tuesday?
The psalmist declares that the Lord is righteous in His judgment against all who hate Zion (God and His people). The psalmist asks that these people be put to shame and turned backward. Even though this verse definitely declares their defeat, it also may suggest that by being shamed, they may turn in repentance to the Lord. Prayer For Today: Father, there are many in our communities that oppose and hate You, and the truth of Your Word. We pray that upon hearing the gospel, a sense of great shame will cause these enemies of the cross to repent and trust Christ as Lord and Saviour of their lives.
Another repeated phrase: like a weaned child. What does that mean? What does a child feel when his mother weans it from mother's milk to real people food? The child does not realize that the mother is doing this for his own good...to help him mature and grow stronger. It is not a neglectful action on the mother's part, but a loving, caring action to help the child on his way to adulthood. Like the child being weaned, we may fret at our present circumstances, but we k...now that our fretting is wrong. Our present circumstances are the womb out of which new blessings and opportunities will be born. (Romans 8:28) [quote by Warren Wiersbe] Prayer For Today: Lord, I am coming to You today as a child who needs to calm and quiet my soul. I need Your help to recognize that whatever comes my way today, is coming because You are allowing it to happen. You are there with me, and will be ready to help me. Thank You, Father, for being a good, good Father. Thank You for the assurance that I am loved by You, just as a child who is weaned needs the assurance of his mother's love. I look forward to what You will bring into my life today! Amen.
The psalmist is deeply troubled because he lives among people who hate peace (Psalm 120:6), lie and deceive others. The psalmist calls to the LORD in his suffering and trouble. We too can call to God. We can pray and pour out our hearts to Him when we experience heartache, anxiety or turmoil in our family, our neighbourhood, our nation and our world. God hears us when we pray to Him and ask for help (Psalm 34:6). Prayer For Today: Thank You, God, that You see my distress and ...my struggle with anxiety. Thank You, Jesus, that You can bring calm to my mind, heart and body. O God, today I feel weak and alone. Dear God, help me to remember that You are near and if I have confessed Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, I have been given a Spirit of power, love and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). Today, God, help me to have the mind of Christ. Bring to mind Scripture that will calm me and fill me with truth and hope (Psalm 4:8). O Lord, protect me from lies. Amen. See more

What impresses God? - November 1, 2020 What impresses God? This week we are going to find out from Zechariah 7:1-14 as we start a new month long series The Rewards of Returning to God (The True Prosperity Gospel as seen in Zechariah 7-8). One of the best ways to return to God is through prayer and so I would encourage you to join us today for the start of our 30 Days of Prayer Campaign as we seek God about our individual and corporate futures. God has provided for us, but what we want more is that we will be guided by Him.
Psalms 120-134 are songs that pilgrims would have sung as they traveled upwards to worship in Jerusalem three times a year. These songs would have calmed their fears, encouraged them and reassured them of God’s character. Ask the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Jesus, to reveal to you what He would like you to give up (fast) during this month. We want to acknowledge that God is most important in our lives and we are totally trusting Him for peace, provision, wisdom and purpose (Pr...overbs 3:5-6). Please talk with those in your small group if you would like to know more about fasting. Perhaps, this month, you could fast something together. God blesses unity (Psalm 133). Prayer For Today: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are the God who sees, hears and answers us. Thank You that You are with us in our distress. Lord, please reveal to me what is not pleasing to You in my life. Please help me to have godly sorrow for my sin. Jesus, I acknowledge that I value You more than anything else in my life. Today, help me to remember that You are with me and You are for me.

Lamentations 3 Hope in the Old Testament. In the darkest storm, there is hope in the Lord!
This month of November our leadership is calling us to a month of fasting and prayer. Our congregation will be encouraged to let the leadership know, at the end of our month, what God has revealed to them about TBC, and what God has revealed to them about their lives. This month, as we seek to spend time with God in fasting and prayer, we’ll be taking a closer look at these Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120-134). Each member of the Prayer Mobilizing Team is taking turns sharing devotionals with you. Hopefully these will remind you of God’s ever present help and hope.
