Back to the grind? I hope it doesn't feel that way. If it does, I hope that you can find a way to make a change... Sunday Scaries? They are a thing. I used to dread Monday mornings. Then I jumped ship. I quit. I was proud to do it. I didn't consider myself a failure because I quit- on the contrary. I was proud as heck to finally quit and do something that made me happy. ... Obviously, it doesn't happen overnight, but all it takes is one step in the right direction. 2020 was hard. In 2021 we all deserve more happy in our lives. A little more "true-to-our-soul", don't you think? For me, that looks like fitness, creativity and reading. Independent time. Space. QUALITY time. Letting in all the light and positivity for 2021! As we close out 2020 with our final post of the year, I can't help but not feel the same anger towards this year as others. Yes, undoubtedly, many awful, difficult, disappointing things happened this year, but some really incredible, exciting things happened this year too. And do you know what friends? We persevered. We got through it and now it's time to look forward, not back, on the g...ood things to come. We celebrated a HUGE milestone yesterday. This time last year I put a goal out there for Ten and Co. A huge, audacious goal that was so big, I was embarrassed to say it out loud for fear of what people would think of me. (I pictured people politely smiling, nodding and rolling their eyes)... I also recognize that 1. I need to care WAY less about what people think of me- it’s an ongoing internal battle for me. And 2. My concern about people’s reaction to my goals if much more about me and my own doubt than them. Yesterday I (we) accomplished my huge, audacious goal for 2020. And instead of celebrating, I felt like it still wasn’t enough compared to what others had accomplished this year. WHAT!? When did this shift happen? When did I start thinking others accomplishments made mine less important? I let that happen. I recognize that I haven’t made my mental health a priority this year and I’m seeing the cumulative impact of that now. I also recognize that more personal and business growth will only happen if I take the time I need for myself too. So, on the cusp of a new year, and a time of reflection and goals I want you to join me in doing 3 things. 1. Reflect- how can you improve on last year? 2. Decide how you can make more time for yourself and do it. 3. Make huge, audacious, insane goals because you have no idea how powerful it is to put them out in the universe... you might just accomplish them! If you’re still here, thanks for hanging in there with me. I can’t wait to see what crazy goals we can come up with for 2021... xo

Spreading cheer for all to hear! I've got one child who is already off school for his break, and another off tomorrow- here we go... 2+++??? weeks to be festive, present and engaged. How are you feeling about that? ... I'm doing my best to indulge a bit, take a break, watch a movie or 4 and take some time for myself too. I've jumped on the bandwagon and dried orange slices to decorate with! Adding cloves before baking makes holes in the slices, perfect for littles to string twine through without a needle. The added bonus was the incredible smell in the kitchen all afternoon- instant holiday! . I will post a how-to later this week so you can try it out this weekend...

Slow Sunday mornings: croissants and lots of really good jam. It's definitely one of my favorite ways to start the day. . Just a friendly PSA to remind you to compost your Sponge Cloths! . Please remember that not all Sponge Cloths are created EQUAL. Ours are made of 100% biodegradable material 70% cellulose from FSC-marked forest and 30% waste cotton (cotton fibers that are too short for the textile industry). Once the cloth reaches the end of its service life, it makes its way to the compost, where it decomposes in 68 weeks. Screen printed with water-based dyes, they leave behind no harmful residues.

Our Oaks and Acorn cloth is one of my favorites and works for really any season! . I also seem to have a candle burning every evening now. It helps me start the ritual of making dinner and separating my work life from my home life (which isn't easy when you work from home!). . What do you do to turn your office brain off at night?

Halloween planning is in full swing over here in the Irwin Household and I am getting really into it this year. . We've decided to forgo traditional trick-or-treating and we're doing an outdoor, mini trick-or-treating adventure in the backyard instead. Did you know your well-loved beeswax wraps can be composted?! . YUP. After about a year, you may notice that they aren't sticking as well and it might be time for an upgrade. Chop them up and toss them in the compost. Alternatively, they work as a fantastic natural firestarter! Cut them into strips and use them as you would paper. Neat right?! Saving waste left, right, and center over here.

Let's talk favourites. TBH it depends on the day for me, but I am still really loving the splatter and the skull- maybe because they aren't what you would typically see on a Sponge Cloth! Oh! And our skull cloth is getting a sneaky fall update..... What are your favourites???

Washing Beeswax wraps is an absolute cinch! . Simply run under cool water and mild soap when needed and either place on a plate rack (like I've done here) or flat on a clean tea towel to dry completely before folding and storing until next time! . Ps. Having a Large Sponge Cloth underneath to catch the drips doesn't hurt either!

School... the land of snacks... . While I am utterly and completely thrilled to be sending my kids back to school in September, it means alllll the snacks start back up again! With the incredible increase in single-use plastics and waste created by this pandemic, I am finding myself desperate to save waste where I can- enter the Beeswax Wrap! I'm the only one that drinks coffee in my household, and I limit myself to one a day (this doesn't include all the tea that I drink and pretend doesn't count towards my caffeine intake), so making a whole pot doesn't make sense. I love @nespresso.ca because its convenient, delish and they have a great recycling program. Their pods are made of aluminum which is infinitely recyclable and I ship back used pods to them for free!
