Come down to the Gallery this month to check out the Roy Henry Vickers Exhibition, it will be on display until September 26th. Kaaren Sobys BC Wild exhibit is currently on view at the Northwest Regional Airport from now until December 4th. Kaaren is based out of Telkwa and creates gigantic, vibrant pieces that are full of life. Definitely worth the trip up to the airport to see this stunning show in person! Please wear a mask and observe safe distancing."

Todays Artist Spotlight is Amanda Hugon! Amanda is Sto:lo/Michif (Cheam/Kwikwetlum) who are known as people of the Salmon. She is a multimedia artist who was... born in Chilliwack and is currently based in Terrace. Amanda wears many hats. On top of being a mother and wife, she gives back to the community in many ways. She is on the board of the Terrace Public Library and Terrace Art Gallery as well as being Skeena Salomon Arts Fests very own Vice-Chair! Amanda is a muralist with the professional artist collective Raven-Tacuara. Everything Amanda creates is inspired by the stunning beauty around us in Northern British Columbia. She says that all my life I have been creating art but thought that everyone did so I never considered myself an artist. I attended Freda Diesing of Northwest Coast Art and it opened my eyes to indigenous culture and showed me how rich my roots really are. After graduating, Amanda became a professional artist, and says she feels like shes living the dream. About the festival, Amanda says the amount of talented artists we have participating is mind blowing, it makes me excited to be part of the festival. She says that salmon is in our DNA so its only natural to feel connected to them. They are being pressured into non-existence and its terrifying to think that the only sight of them will be the murals painted on the walls around Terrace. Follow Amanda on Instagram @manda_hugon.
