Mark Twain once said, If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. Let's look at this under a health & wellness lens; your frog is the action that has the greatest impact on your health, and the one you are most likely to procrastinate on if you don’t do something about it. First thing in the morning your mind is clear and you haven’t gotten pulled into 10 different directionsyet. This is your opportunity to prioritize what matters mo...st to you, and what has the greatest impact on your health & well-being. By completing it before anything else, you get momentum and a sense of accomplishment before the rest of the day unfolds. It’s easy to put things off until all the other things are done, but when THAT time arrives, you are most likely not motivated to do the thing you are dreading. Get that single most important step done first. Get on with those frogs. You will have to eat them at some point. I. Love. Food. Especially when I’ve got good food to choose from in my house. Last week I struggled with meals as I wasn’t prepared. By mid week I was grabbing quick foods, drinking more coffee for an energy burst and I wasn’t eating colorful, nourishing meals. And I felt it. So I’m heading into this week a little more prepared. Tostadas and yam (leftover from weekend dinners), eggs, salad, avocado and fire roasted salsa I made over the weekend. Things don’t fall apart without good reason. When something in your world isn’t working, it will eventually come crumbling down. It’s messy and ugly and it feels like your whole world is falling apart. Sounds terrible......but it’s a good thing! It means the situation you were in, or choices you were making, no longer serve you and it’s time for you to REBUILD in a way that better supports who you want to be and how you want to feel. Note: Before you can rebuild, you first need to clean up the mess and toss out whatever contributed to the downfall. Oh, how I love Sundays. Here’s a few Sunday habits to help you prepare for the week ahead: Have a slower start to the morning. Sit a little longer with your coffee/tea or spend some time in the kitchen making your favourite breakfast. Write a to-do list for the week. Get a clear picture of what the week ahead looks like. Schedule your to-do’s in your planner/calendar. Be sure to include your walks, workouts and other self-care practices. Meal prep! Plan a... few meals, pick up supplies, chop some veggies, and set yourself up for less stress in the week. Practice self-care. Sneak in a little more time for YOU so you’ll feel refreshed and ready for your week.
