Thai Yoga - the almost lost yoga practice of Siam Many people don’t know that Indian yoga spread throughout Asia and influenced many other types of yoga, and spiritual/physical practices, such as Tibetan yoga, Tai Chi, QiGong, and a unique and relatively unknown style of yoga found only in Thailand, called Resusi Dat Ton. Thai Yoga has a number of different postures, and significantly different techniques than Hatha poses in postures that may look a like. ... As well, the breathing style is VERY different to most Indian yoga styles, and is only now in the west being popularized with bio hackers, which is very long, deep nasal breathe retention, along side the asanas movement. Think of Thai Yoga, as being more focused on Yang energy and movement as opposed the more yin aspect of Indian yoga, as it’s focus is on breathe holding, blood pressure raising, heart rate raising, self-chiropractic manipulations, and self-massage. Thai yoga mixes well with the more yang Indian yoga styles, and could be seen as the opposite side of the same yoga coin. Because of this Thai yoga is a major element in Ahina Yoga practices.
