C U R B A P P E A L This delicious cocktail purchased at a swanky rooftop bar in San Francisco was called moon landing...and if you know me, you know that I’m a total space nerd so I HAD to get it. It was ridiculously expensive, but when shared in a beautiful setting with beautiful people, great conversation, nice furniture etc, the experience was worth it. Turns out, it was a dirty martini that I could order at any bar. Did I order more than 1? Of course, because all ...of the right presentation ingredients were there to make the spend worthwhile. Moral of the story: presentation is everything. When you present something with the right ingredients for your audience, they connect and sales skyrocket. H U M I L I T Y Today I was reminded of this very important life lesson. I made a quick executive decision without deep considerations and it kind of blew up in my face. Who can relate?? I could have ignored the fallout, remaining firm with my decision and ready to defend it...but that’s not the kind of leader I am. Ego and arrogance have no place in leadership. Listening to and considering people’s thoughts and feelings as a result of my decision was hard but it ...helped me to see different perspectives and hear different voices. Responding to concerns with humility, grace and honesty is the best way to grow, maintain the confidence of your audience, and avoid a potential catastrophe. I really want to thank everyone who were brave enough to step forward with their concerns and have a real conversation with me about it.
