July 27th heralds the 60th anniversary of the Korean Armistice, and in honour of this occasion The Military Museums is holding a special commemoration ceremony at 11am. Due to the recent flooding in Calgary, the officially opening speeches and celebrations for the Korean War exhibit will be held that day as well. We encourage all who can to come and celebrate with us on July 27th.

Stretching 250 kilometres across Korea’s 38th parallel, the Korean Demilitarized Zone serves a harsh border that separates North and South Korea. Created due to the Armistice Agreement in 1953, it has still seen several scores of incidents between both countries. Brought back to Canada, this piece of barb wire comes from the afore mentioned DMZ. It is currently on display at the Korean War Exhibit.
