We would like to announce that our four Children's Holiday Ceramics Workshops on Saturday, December 19 and Monday, December 21 are full! Thanks to all who signed up. If you missed this opportunity to enroll your child in a workshop, we hope to host more in the future so please watch this space!
Hi everyone - I just wanted to say thank you to those who have chosen to donate to AX this year. We weren't able to host our annual Kick AX Show fundraiser and membership drive this year due to the pandemic, with obvious ramifications. We see your generosity and are grateful for it. If you would like to renew your membership, purchase one for the first time, or simply make a donation to AX (all of these will net you a charitable tax receipt), please visit our website. Like m...any of our other offerings, we've migrated our donations and membership options online, and it's really easy to give: https://axartscentre.ca/supporting-ax/. Thanks, sincerely. Jane Simpson Executive and Artistic Director
Today is the deadline! Make sure to have your applications in!
AX is pleased to announce that yesterday we renovated our historic 12 Maple Avenue location, thanks to support from Farm Credit Canada's AgriSpirit Fund. This project allowed us to insulate the basement, which will reduce the building's heat loss and allow us to redirect the savings on heating to our arts and cultural programing for the Sussex region.
The AX Writing Group is now meeting on the third Wednesday of every month at the AX Gallery from 6:30 8:30 p.m. and encourages new members to join. The group is open to teens and adults, all writing genres (poetry, fiction, memoir), and all experience levels, to discuss and share writing in a welcoming environment. There’s no pressure to share your work, but if you have something you’ve been working on and would like to get some feedback, please bring it along. Don’t forget... your mask! This is a FREE event. If you would like to attend the writing group, contact [email protected].
Are you looking for a studio or office space to call your own? Our largest space has once again become available for rent! Located on the 3rd floor of our town-owned building at 12 Maple Avenue in Sussex, this 173 sq.-ft. space would make a great office or artist's studio, with quick and easy access to a utility sink just outside your door. Rent is $175 a month, with the option to access dedicated, high speed internet for an additional $30/mth. Note that this space is not su...ited for retail, and you must be able to climb stairs as it's on the 3rd floor, with no elevator. Regarding COVID-19, this space is in the administrative section of the arts and culture centre, which is currently only open to the public on a by-appointment basis. We also have a regular cleaning and sanitizing protocol in place for this section of the building. If you are interested in renting this space, please email [email protected], call (506) 433-8351, or send us a message directly here on Facebook. See more

AX is pleased to present a talk with Tzigane Caddell, curator of the current exhibition The Carnegie Legacy. Tzigane generously sat down with us at AX and talked about the exhibition and demonstrated the fibre art of rug hooking. Her work and the other rugs in the exhibition were crafted by the Carnegie Rughookers and they are on display at the AX Gallery until December 19, 2020.
Looking forward to the winter patio!
