10 Years ago The Basement Fitness opened its doors as a training studio in a 1000sq foot basement on Regent St. We had big plans to invite everyone to a Gala to celebrate, but as we are all aware a pandemic has taken over and this just was not possible to do safely this year. We promise to celebrate when it is safe to do so again, until then we will have to settle for being appreciative that we are surviving one of the most challenging obstacles yet. ... A decade of gratitude goes out to all the members, trainers, friends and family of The Basement. Thank you for making our dream of being Better Than Yesterday come true. Thank you for sharing in the building of our vision. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. Thank you for all the laughs and tears. Thank you for your friendships, you are all family. The Basement Fitness 30.11.2020

With the rise in Covid cases here in Sudbury we are asking that all Basement members wear a face covering upon entering and exiting the gym. Whenever possible we also recommend wearing a mask to move around the gym or between sets. In an effort to help keep carbon dioxide down, we will be also airing out the gym throughout the day to help aid in air exchange and improve air quality. We apologize if the gym temperature temporarily drops (just work harder to warm up). These periods will be no more than 5 minutes in length. We hope that we can continue to provide a safe and effective space for you to healthily work out in!

THIS IS MEANT TO MOTIVATE AND ACT AS A CALL TO ACTION- NOT TO UPSET ANYONE! IF YOU ARE OFFENDED EASILY SKIP OVER. -JOHN ... GUESS WHAT, LOTS OF PEOPLE FEEL THE SAME WAY. THE STRUGGLE WITH THE GYM RE-OPENING MOTIVATION IS REAL. ARE YOU FEELING OVERWHELMED AND DEFEATED FROM THE POTENTIAL "ZERO" ACTIVITY THAT WAS DONE FOR THE PAST 4-5 MONTHS? LET ME TELL YOU THIS: A FALL FROM GRACE IS NEVER EASY AND COVID PROBABLY DIDN'T JUST SHOVE YOU OVER, IT CATAPULTED YOU, LIKE MANY FITNESS ENTHUSIASTS, INTO A DOWN SPIRAL OF FOOD, TOO MUCH SITTING AND ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION (IF THE LCBO WAS A PUBLICLY TRADED COMPANY ITS STOCK WOULD HAVE SKYROCKETED THIS YEAR). THE "USED-TO" CROWD HAS GROWN LARGER WITH THIS GLOBAL PANDEMIC: -I "USED TO" WORKOUT -I USED TO BE ABLE TO BENCH 150LBS -I "USED TO" GO FOR WALKS -I "USED TO" BE MOTIVATED -I "USED TO" MEAL PREP (THE RESTAURANTS DO THANK YOU FOR THE WEEKLY TAKEOUT SUPPORT) -I "USED TO" EAT CLEAN -I "USED TO" AVOID ALCOHOL ETC. ETC. ETC. BUT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, IT IS TIME FOR SOME TOUGH LOVE. QUIT USING YOUR NAPKIN AS A KLEENEX AND THROWING EVERY COVID EXCUSE AS TO WHY YOU ARE ALLOWED TO JUST TAKE THE SUMMER OFF. GET OVER YOURSELF AND SET A NEW GOAL. YES IT SUCKS!!!!!!! BUT THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE FIRST DAY THAT YOU STEPPED FOOT INTO YOUR GYM AND NOW IS THAT BACK THEN YOU HAD A DREAM/THOUGHT OF WHAT YOUR HARD WORK COULD TURN YOU INTO, AND NOW YOU ARE PISSED AT YOURSELF FOR REGRESSING AND UNDOING SOME OF THAT HARD WORK. DO YOU THINK THAT EVERY SUCCESSFUL PERSON AVOIDED SETBACKS? BE SERIOUS, EVERYTHING IN YOUR LIFE THAT YOU HAD TO OVERCOME PROBABLY TAUGHT YOU SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSONS OF ALL! THIS IS NO DIFFERENT. (CUE THE MOTIVATING MUSIC) NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON, EVERYONE IS AFRAID OF A SECOND WAVE, BANK ACCOUNTS ARE PRESUMABLY LOWER, THE U.S. IS ON THE BRINK OF CIVIL WAR, MURDER HORNETS WERE FOUND IN CANADA, LOTS OF MEMBERS FROM THE MOVIE GLEE ARE DIEING AND KANYE COULD BECOME THE NEXT PRESIDENT.... THE LIST OF STRESSORS ARE MOUNTING. BUT WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT REDUCES YOUR STRESS AND CLEARS YOUR HEAD? WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT WHEN YOU TAKE TIME TO DO FOR YOURSELF YOU NEVER REGRET? WHAT IS THE THING THAT KEEPS YOU HONEST WITH YOUR HEALTHY EATING? WHAT IS THE THING THAT KEEPS YOU FEELING STRONG AND ENERGETIC WHEN YOU PLAY WITH YOUR KIDS/GRANDKIDS?
