While this year has certainly been a challenging one, we have so much to be grateful for. We have been overwhelmed with gratitude from the many donations sent in to our residents and to the staff, whether it was much needed PPE, a holiday card or special message, a gift, or other. We thank you! We are also so grateful for all of our staff -- they do demonstrate the spirit of the holiday season every day, especially in challenging years like this one. ... #thankyou #staysafe #happyholidays #gratitude
JOE (Jobs Opportunities Enterprise) has been busy creating greeting cards for over 3,000 seniors living in residences and care facilities in the community (like The Elliott) and to be included in packages of food and warm clothing for other folks. They’ve designed 3 seasonal cards...some with messages on the front and blank on the other side so folks can write their own messages to friends and family. They’ll be printing them off and delivering following COVID protocols. Here...’s a bird's eye view of the magical way they make their cards...as a team, in their J.O.E. Coffee Chats on Zoom. https://youtu.be/-RkSfASLl2c #joecoffee #teamwork #elliottcommunity
Voting is underway for the name of our Café Patio & Sensory Garden! Here are the top 3 names put forward, that we’re voting on: 1. The Oasis Café... The Oasis Café is the calm in the centre of our community. It provides refuge, relief, and pleasantries. Everyone is welcome. 2. The Cheers Café The Cheers Café is a place where a group of locals come to sit, relax, socialize, eat and drink. This will be a place where everyone knows your name. 3. Vinehurst A nod to the founder of our community, George Elliott: The poor find a warm friend in Mr. Elliott, and his equally benevolent wife and his sister, who resides with him. His residence, ‘Vinehurst’, on the Paisley Street hill, is one of the most sightly and pleasant homes in this young and beautiful city. (from The Canadian Biographical Dictionary, 1880) We look forward to finding out which name is the winner! #TheElliottCommunity #Oasis #Cheers #Vinehurst
