These flowers arrived today and they are so pretty (well, they're all pretty, but these ones really stand out).

Some good advice

Are your Valentine's Day (or any other special) flowers starting to wilt, lose their blossoms or die? Cut flowers, like those in a bouquet, are no longer able to make food for themselves, so they need you to provide that food for them. Here is a surefire way to keep them alive and beautiful a little longer. It is known as the 7-Up Method, but it can also be the Sprite Method or the No-Name Method, depending on which sugared citrus soda you use. If the mixture of soda and w...ater is in the correct proportion, a bouquet will remain bright, because the combination provides the flowers with the water and food they need. Slightly acidic water is what keep them alive as it travels up the stems to the flowers quicker than plain water, keeping the flowers hydrated and fed. This is where the soda comes in ... soda is loaded with citric acid that lowers the pH (increases the acidity) and sugar, which provides the food. To kill any bacteria that naturally occurs around the plant stems and vase, add a couple of drops of bleach. A little bleach kills the bacteria without damaging the flowers. 1 part sugared, citrus soda 3 parts clean water 2-3 drops of bleach Snip the stems at a 45 degree angle and place in the mixture. You'll be amaze at the difference in the flowers.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!! I just love Christmas time ... It's been busy, but there's still time to order Christmas baskets and centrepieces. We're accepting new orders until 12:00 noon on the 23rd. If you miss the cut off, there will be items to choose from in the store.
