Upcoming classes by Wild Seed School of Herbal Studies, being held in Vancouver, BC! See below for information... Late Summer Weekend Herbal Intensive: This exciting new class will take place Sept 13 until 15, in the greater Vancouver area.... Some of the fun and informative topics we will cover will be plant identification, safe use of easy-to-find herbs, and methods of extraction for herbal medicine. This is a great opportunity to brush up on rusty herbal skills, prepare for our Intermediate Program, or begin a life-long journey into the world of medicinal plants! You will take home knowledge and medicine. The hours will be Friday 6 to 9, Sat 10 to 5, Sunday 10 to 4. The site can be easily accessed by public transit and car. The group will be kept small so there is ample opportunity to ask questions. To reserve your spot, please send full payment to Kevin Kunzler at the below address. Cost for the weekend is $175 before Sept 1st and $195 afterward. This includes materials and refreshments. We will send out more details to those registered. I first discovered Okanagan Okanogan when it’s author Harold Rhenisch linked to Girl Gone Wild & Weedy for my nettle soup recipe. I have been reading his words ever since. It’s not often that someone captures my attention this way, but Harold has such a fresh, lateral way of thinking that I find myself wanting to know more about his work. Harold seems deeply rooted to the Okanagan/Okanogan valley that runs down into Washington, and writes of his observations of the unique ecology and water systems of this valley that transcend colonial methods of land and water use, and how these observations could empower the social and economic fabric of this land. Underground clouds, sky rivers and rock face collection systems. Alternative crops that can reform land use. Wow. Just wow. http://okanaganokanogan.com/

I've been having a blast with my son, growing food, rolling down hills, barefoot playtime in the chilly creek and pinecone hunting. We are preparing to grow a bounty of botanicals for using in my business and also for offering the community who seeks local herbs. Did you know how tricky it is to find locally grown bulk herbs in the Okanagan? That just won't do! Do you grow your own botanicals?

Hello beautiful plant people! I have some news... I am needing to really focus on my business now that it is market and festival season and I am also trying to get my son out to more fun, child focused activities. So for the next few months The Gathering Basket will be running on very limited attention from me. I will add contacts to the biz directory and try to find a streamlined calendar for the events page. I will post articles as they are submitted and time permitting. In... the meantime, keep spreading the word and feel free to post here. I will start a fb group in lieu of the forum on the website, for now. If anyone would like to become admin and have plenty of time to offer to the project let me know and I will hook you up and give you the low down on the parameters I have set. Until I have the other priorities in my life set up and flowing, I have to set The Gathering Basket on cruise control. In the fall and winter I will have more time to dedicate to this worthy and beautiful project. Love to you all! <3 See more
