It’s that time of year again, the Wellington County OPP are gearing up to launch their festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign. The RIDE programs are to address the issue of impaired drivers, particularly around the holiday season, and to get them off the roads.

Much like many charitable organizations this year, The Guelph Shoebox Project holiday drive will be turning to gift cards, instead of filling empty shoeboxes for women with feel-good items, who are impacted by homelessness in the community.

Dr. Nicola Mercer, medical officer of health for Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is advising the community to not go into any home that is not your own. In her latest letter to the community, Dr. Mercer says it is now clear that people acquire COVID-19 from their friends and family in a home setting. They then take it into schools, workplaces, places of worship and long-term care homes or hospitals.

Wellington County OPP are looking for a male who stole a Christmas tree from a business on St. David Street North in Fergus. Surveillance footage captured the suspect unplugging the Christmas tree that was on display behind the electronic drive-thru order sign before fleeing on foot.
