https://twitter.com/JustEatItFi/status/1089041527584759809 How do we get our Canadian rule makers to get on board with this? Give credits to businesses that go out of their way to comply. Make it a by-law based on carbon credits? Municipalities can not rely on incinerating our trash which only compounds the greenhouse effect. Municipalities need to do it right to gain public confidence. .

Today, a real estate agent called me to empty a Big Black Surrey garbage bin. Apparently the people who sold the house didn’t get it out in time. I came equipped with re-usable bags and started pulling out the debris. You know the small green propane tanks people use for camping? There was 3 full ones and 5 empties, there was 30 lbs of clothing, 20 lbs of packaged food waste, 25 lbs of paper and plastic containers, 40 lbs of metal, 10 lbs of electronics, and the balance w...as garbage - not much, 30 lbs? OK - to the people that moved out: Most of the so called garbage is recycling - but with mandated curb side pick-up, big garbage trucks with hooks to swing the cans upside down to empty debris, all of that recycling just goes to 1) Landfill 2) Incineration. The agent and I most certainly avaoided the explosion from the propane canisters, all that food waste will get composted properly, a charity will get another few dollars from the clothing, the metal will get melted down, electronics will go to a Depot, the plastic containers and paper will be recycled. A much better picture as compared to 1) and 2) city mandated garbage - don’t you think?
