Just a friendly reminder that all paddlers/teams must carry the mandatory equipment for the entire duration of the event. RRPC officials will be checking to ens...ure all paddlers have all the mandatory equipment during final boat staging on Saturday morning. If you do not display these items, you will not be permitted to participate in the race. If you need any items they can be purchased from Wilderness Supply Winnipeg and The Hardcore Surf & Paddleboard Company. The following items are required: One Transport Canada approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD) per paddler* One whistle per PFD One buoyant heaving line at least 15 m per boat (not required for SUPs) One Bailer or manual bilge pump per boat (not required for SUPs) Board leashes for SUPs (must be worn at all times during the race) Cellular telephone in a waterproof container Copy of the waterproof safety card with organizers’ phone numbers (provided to you at check-in on Saturday) Two liters of water per person *ALL racers must wear their personal flotation device (PFD) while on the water for the entire duration of the event. Due to the obvious unfortunate circumstances of the world, we will not be having an official Waasaashkaa Gathering this October. It makes us super sad that we w...on’t be able to spend time with all of you collectively to celebrate the beauty of surfing. With that being said, nature and surfing are NOT cancelled.
