WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW IN MAKING THE TRANSITION FROM CERB TO EI OR TO CRB If you received the CERB through Service Canada After you receive your last CERB paym...ent, YOU MUST continue completing reports. In most cases, you do not need to apply for EI benefits. Service Canada will automatically review your file and your Record of Employment (ROE), then start a claim for EI regular benefits if you qualify. If you DO NOT qualify, Service Canada will be notifying you by mail. If you received CERB through the Canada Revenue Agency you might be eligible for one of the new recovery benefits. Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB) will provide eligible workers with $500 per week (taxable, tax deducted at source) for up to 26 weeks for those who have stopped working and are NOT eligible for EI, or had their employment/self-employment income reduced by at least 50% due to Covid-19. This benefit will be paid in two-week periods. You must be available and capable of working. There is also the Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit and Canada Recovery Sickness Benefits available; for more details on these types of benefits and qualifying conditions, you can visit the www.canada.gc.ca for information on all these types of new Recovery benefits. Stay safe, my friends, Charlie

If this comes true, this could be very helpful to many. We should all watch and see what happens. "The federal government says it will soon introduce a free, automatic tax filing system for simple returns a policy change meant to provide government benefits to qualified people who don't collect them now because they skip filing their taxes. The promise a one-line commitment buried in the 6,783-word speech from the throne could help hundreds of thousands of low- and fi...xed-income Canadians access benefits that are only paid to people who file tax returns. By law, and in most cases, only people who owe taxes are required to file a return each year with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)."
