This is the time of year to start your TOMATOES if you haven't already!! My favourite method is to get some peat pellets or coir pellets, then soak them in water to expand them. Put 3-5 seeds in each pellet (about 1/4" down in the peat) and place on a sunny window sill. The best success with tomatoes is if you have a south facing window...I put my pellets under a plastic dome so that the peat never dries out...seeds are super sensitive to dryness...leave them here until the f...irst true set of leaves emerge (the second set after you see the first little ones). After this happens, transplant the whole pellet into a 4 or 6" pot filled with SEA SOIL...this is the magical ingredient that has brought so much success for us!! it's full of goodness for the tomatoes; they love it... leave them in the sun, water everyday and VOILA!!! they can keep growing like that until they're ready to go out in the spring....Happy planting!! Time to pop a few cucumber seeds, pumpkins, and water melon in a little soil...and keep indoors (in a sunny window) until ALL danger of frost is gone!! Also a good time to fertilize any other seedlings you may have going. I like the Organique and other organic fish fertilizers myself. Just use a bit...there's still pretty delicate!
