Baby Steps in Outgrowing Separation Anxiety. At first day of school, your little one won’t let go of you and will cry tirelessly. What to do? Seeing your kid this way is every parent’s heart break. But remember this, your kid needs to undergo such for his social development.... Assure him that you’ll be back immediately The reason for this anxiety is your child’s strong attachment to you. Making him feel secure by saying that you won’t be gone for long will create a compromise in their mind that your disappearance is temporary. Give incentives Through merit system, your kids will be inspired with overcoming his fears, in exchange for toys and goodies. Prizes need not be expensive. Introduce him to other kids Anxiety is lessened when shared. In your kid’s case, a perfect peer is none other than kids like him. Get him involved. At first, interest him with the activities. When he finally plays with others, it’s the best time to skedaddle! Studies conclude that separation anxiety is normal among toddlers. A child will naturally outgrow this dilemma eventually.
