The typical new year quotes are getting a lot of heat on social media, but if I’m being honest a new year always brings me a fresh perspective, outlook, and excitement for the year to come. ... Sometimes a new year gives us an extra push to try something new, to focus more on our health, to do that one thing we’ve always wanted to do- and I’m totally here for it. Just hit play. I’m so excited for our on demand workout membership program For only $45 /month you get access to workout from home along with us! ... Every month NEW workouts are uploaded to the library This is as raw as it gets- you, me, and the camera! We sweat together, we get strong together This project was huge for me. From planning the workouts, doing all the filming myself (no professional videographers over here), editing, figuring out technology (not my best friend), hours and hours of uploading, making mistakes, and trying again. It is now LIVE and I couldn’t be more excited. COVID throwing us curve balls and I’m out here like BRING IT I can’t wait to sweat with you every month!

SANTA ZOOM CHALLENGE Do you have a zoom meeting this week? A zoom workout? Try this little fun challenge we did with one of our classes last week:... Ask your clients or meeting participants to put a Santa hat on the top right corner of their computer Every time the trainer or meeting host wears the Santa hat, everyone keeps their own tally to keep track! At the end of the meeting, you must complete ten squats/tally! Make sure you have everyone muted in the meeting and they have speaker view on so they can see when you’re wearing the Santa hat! Make sure to get them to post online and tag you so you know they completed the task and how many squats they did! If you get your class or meeting to try our #santahatsquatchallenge we would love to see, give us a tag! How are you adding some fun to your zoom workouts and meetings during the lockdown?
WILL POWER Recently I listened to a podcast on The Happiness Lab. It talked about how to KICK Bad Habits. Check it out.. Most of us are very good at understanding what we need to do better to be healthier, to be more financially stable, to have happier families- most of us know what these things are! ... Mistakenly, most of us believe changing this behaviour needs willpower and hard work. We admire will power and we view it as a very positive attribute. But will power doesn’t really work When you exert willpower and CONTROL your behaviour, what you are doing is you are THINKING about the thing that you don’t want to do. And in doing so, you give it energy to keep reemerging. So there is a self-defeating aspect to will power that gets in our way. So what do we do? We need to be working smarter, not harder. When you observe people when they are being effective at doing a behaviour, say eating healthily or saving money for the future, what they are doing is they are not exerting will power- what people do is they set up the situations around them to make it EASY to repeat the desired behaviour. And they repeat it over and over so it becomes automatic. Engaging in routine is the secret to changing bad behaviours. Habit formation- habits are the behaviours we repeat until they become mental shortcuts. Habits require a reward at the end (endorphins from exercise, for example). Habits also require a second component- the routine. A routine is the specific sequence of actions that get us to the reward. Want to start some new, good habits? Try this out! See more

2020, you sure have put us through the ringer I feel like I am limping into 2021 coming out of a year long business battle. A new baby, two business shut downs, and many struggles along the way. Although I may be limping, we are going to get through that 2020 finish line. I choose to embrace the badass warrior energy that you all give me, and I refuse to give up. ... It's like you see that finish line, and you just want to throw in the towel, but instead, you push yourself to sprint all the way to the end giving it everything you've got. Friday shoutout to our amazing trainer James James works full time at CNL, and works evenings/ Fridays/ weekends at The Local-Motion He is the most hard working guy I have ever met... James starts his days at 4:45am heading out the door to workout, and makes his way home most days between 7:30 and 8:30pm His Monday/Wednesday Circuit classes always fill up so fast as his experience and expertise are second to none He always has a full client load for personal training and group training (he’s training right now as I post this)! A couple fun facts about Trainer James: He is a crazy, die hard Steelers fan He loves fishing and coffee He is an awesome cook He can chat up a storm with absolutely everybody He started his training career in his parents basement ps. his birthday is coming up next week COMMENT below an exercise you’d like him to do for his birthday workout (he has no idea I’m posting this)

YOU HAVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF HOURS IN A DAY AS BEYONCE When I first heard this quote I was like HELL YA #motivated But then I was like whoa. I’m barely getting by as it is. Now I kind of feel like shit ... I’m doing the best I can, and it’s still not enough? Then I realized.. you know what Beyoncé has? HELP We can’t do it all by ourself. This lesson I have learned over and over. Becoming a mom has taught me this on a daily basis. Being a small business owner, I always had to do everything myself. This doesn’t include the day to day work of training, teaching classes, prepping, and all that fun stuff. It also included cleaning the gym, running my finances and bookkeeping, marketing, social media management, and SO. MUCH. MORE behind the scenes. I never asked for help because you know Then BAM. Motherhood. How can I run a successful business (during a pandemic), be a good mom, a good wife, a good dog owner, and find time to look after my own health? The answer- ask for help! The small things can turn into big things! I now have a great friend that helps with walking my dogs on a weekly basis, someone who cleans the gym on a weekly basis, and an amazing family who helps with Julian two days/week! Even these small things that don’t cost a lot of money to seek help for can truly take a huge stress load off of you! Maybe for you it’s asking a friend to watch your kids for an hour so you can get a sweat in. Or maybe it’s having someone come in to clean your house for you once and a while. Whatever it is- trust me when I say HELP is the secret ingredient! Sending you all of the positive vibes for a great week ahead : @reanneberard

Starting Monday, Masks are mandatory at the Local-Motion for members while not performing an exercise! What does this mean? Please enter with your mask on. When travelling to different areas of the gym, your mask must be on. You may take your mask off to perform an exercise. ... Please bring a plastic bag to put your mask in between exercises. Please do not let this deter you from joining your local gyms! Gyms need you now more than ever. Gyms are currently operating at extremely low occupancy numbers. Then we will gather around the fire for a workshop led by Ashley Pharazyn. Workshop details: As we move into the cooler months our bodies start to crave warm and grounding foods. Join health coach Ashley Pharazyn to learn about why our bodies start to crave heavier foods when the weather starts to cool down. Sweat or tears? We’re gearing up for October training! Registration will be opening up tomorrow on our website... At the Local-Motion safety has been our number one priority since we’ve reopened. Here’s some of our COVID-19 protocol we’ve implemented: weekly prescreening for everyone entering our facility only 6 gym members allowed inside at one time fitness class sizes of only 8 members all trainers wear masks all classes are social distanced with 6 feet between members boxes are marked on our gym floors that indicate 6 feet apart hand sanitizer before entering our facility, as well as when inside our facility sanitizing/cleaning station inside our facility as well as inside our washroom mandatory covid orientations for every gym member and more! If you’re still feeling uneasy- we have virtual options for you to join us in October! Questions? DM us!

To encourage getting your kiddos out being active we’re holding a little contest! Head out for a bike ride or walk and hunt for the pumpkins! Hey people of Pinawa! Tomorrow I will be hosting a biking PUMPKIN HUNT for my BOOTCAMP CLASS If you find pumpkins around town please don’t take them home or move them... If anyone wants to host one for the kiddos in town it would be a fun COVID friendly activity! I’m having each pumpkin numbered (no contact with pumpkins this way), and everytime they find a pumpkin and complete the exercise task that coincides with that number (they’ll each have the document with the numbered tasks along with them), they take a selfie with the pumpkin in the location! The goal is to find as many pumpkins as possible! If you’re out and about tomorrow evening between 6 and 7pm give them a little cheer and encouragement!

This is exactly how I feel after our Fall Fitness Retreat We began planning this event in 2019, and when COVID caused the shutdown in March and we had to postpone the event, we were unsure if we would even be able to still host it. We had so many highs and lows planning the retreat this year! Well here we are a couple days after, and I’m so incredibly happy and grateful Thank you to everyone who came out for this special day! I look forward to it every year and you guys... always bring the fire and fun Thank you to all the amazing instructors and guests who made this event a success! Although we can’t get this close at our classes right now, it still feels SO good to have group classes back Fitness classes are an amazing way to build strength, confidence, and crush personal goals If you don’t want to invest in the price of personal training, fitness classes are an amazing alternative... Accountability is a great benefit with fitness classes! Committing to specific days and times each week is the best way to make it happen Plus you get the added benefit of being part of a motivating community (which I think is the best part)!
