Our Patagonia organic mussels come from the Ria de Arousa estuary in Galicia, northern Spain, where they’re grown on long underwater ropes descending from bateas, or wooden rafts. Resulting is mussels that are delicious, easy to cultivate, low on the ocean food chain, highly nutritious, and actually improve water quality and aquatic ecosystems where they grow.

They are referred to as heirloom eggs because they recall a time of more traditional farming. These eggs come from unique, traditional hen breeds rather than the brown and white hens normally seen in commercial egg farms. They have beautiful natural variation in color including white, green, blue, brown, and spotted.

FOSSA Duck Shit Dancong Tea chocolate, from Singapore's first and award winning artisanal bean-to-bar craft chocolate maker. A collaboration chocolate with rare tea curator - Pekoe & Imp. Ya Shi Xiang (literally translated to Duck Shit) is a dancong tea cultivated in the Phoenix Mountain of Guangdong Province. The story goes that the farmer, in an attempt to hide the secret to his delicious tea, gave it an unpleasant name and it stuck. Fortunately, the flavour is nothing like its name. The Savoy cabbage, first documented in the 1500’s in a region along the border of Switzerland that was once ruled by the Italian royal family known as House of Savoy. This cabbage is noted for its beautiful heavy textured, crinkled leaves, with ruffled edges. I just had to try one. Stuffed cabbage with lemony Rice, foraged Mediterranean pine nuts, fresh herbs and spicy ground sumac. Oh so good. @ The Market Garden

During the current global crisis, we at The Market Garden are in a constant state of evolution. We’re trying to understand what our ongoing role looks like. We see ourselves as a food provider and feel the best thing for our community is to continue to fulfill that role in a safe and reliable way. With new recommendations changing on a daily basis, our operation is also liable to change with it, and we appreciate your understanding as we navigate this time together. From... a social distancing perspective: we will be limiting the traffic that we allow in the store at any given time. Spaces are tight in the store, and we will evaluate how well this is working and make changes as we see fit. For now, the store will stay open to the public for our normal business hours (8am to 8pm) For those that are self isolating, quarantining, or don’t feel it’s best to be in a store grocery shopping right now, we will be starting daily pick-up and delivery service. This is relatively new to us, and things may change, but for now the procedure will be as follows: 1) Give us a call at (250) 384-7023 we will put your name and number in a queue 2) We’ll call you back when available: have a grocery list ready and we’ll try to fulfill it while we have you on the phone (this is so that we can accommodate inventory gaps, etc). 3) We’ll deliver the order as we have drivers available with instructions for payment. *NOTE* we will use the same procedure for pick ups but will leave the order refrigerated until you come by to pick it up. If you can pick up as opposed to delivery, it makes things much easier for us. We only ask that pick up orders aren’t left for too long, as we have limited storage space in our coolers. Again, things are subject to change, and we appreciate your understanding as we continue trialing this new service. Stay healthy! The Market Garden

I discovered this amazing product at a trade show in Toronto this fall, We now have it on offer! The Elmhurst company has developed its own process of making the nut milks, which it calls "milking." Cold milling machines extract all of the protein, fat, and micronutrients from the nuts, which means Elmhurst doesn't need to fortify the milks with additional vitamins. Its milks also are free of the stabilizers, whiteners, and gums that most plant-based milks contain, leaving many of its products with as few as two ingredients. Hands down the best almond milk I have ever had.

Three unique & complex blends - Spice 94, Garden 108 & Grove 42 - simply served with tonic or mixed to create sophisticated non-alcoholic cocktails. Over three hundred years ago, it was common for physicians to distil herbal remedies using copper stills, harnessing the power of nature & alchemy to solve medical maladies. In 1651, one such physician, John French, published The Art of Distillation documenting these non-alcoholic recipes. At that same time, a family in Lincolns...hire had started farming, hand sowing seeds using baskets called ‘seedlips’. Centuries later, Ben stumbled across John French’s recipes & began experimenting with them in his kitchen, using a small copper still & herbs from his garden. That might have been the end of the story, if he hadn’t been given a sickly sweet pink mocktail one Monday evening in a restaurant. The result was the beginning of an idea to combine his farming heritage, love of nature, his copper still & forgotten recipes with the need for proper non-alcoholic options; a name inspired by the seed baskets carried by his family centuries before & a process of Seed to Lip: and so Seedlip was born.

Thick slices of soft, delicious Italian panettone is the kind of treats that Christmas is all about. It's a traditional Christmas cake throughout Italy and around the world, first noted in the northern Italian city of Milan. A panettonewhich literally translates to "big loaf" has a slightly light and airy texture, but a rich and buttery taste. This year we have put together one of the finest collections we have ever had on offer, all fresh from Italy. If you‘re looking for gluten free, we have them available too, from the wonderful Laughing Daughters Bakery on Salt Spring Island.

The marzipan pig is a traditional German and Scandinavian confectionery consisting of marzipan shaped as a pig. We have a beautiful selection of delicious German marzipan on offer this year, in many shapes and sizes.
