If you are looking for some ideas of websites and activities as we continue on with COVID-19 please message me. I have been doing zoom meetings with families - and kids for various lengths of time. I have also been putting together activities based on the child and/or family needs. Know that you are not alone in this and feel free to pass on this page to others. Darlene

Hi everyone: I have had a couple of people ask me about a course I took called "Overcoming Sensory Meltdowns" There is a cost to this course but I did find the material helpful in filling in some gaps I had in my learning, reminding me of strategies and gave me appropriate ways to describe sensory needs to people I work with both colleagues and parents. Their website has some free materials as well. Check them out. https://sensoryprocessingexplained.com/

School's out, programs closed, parks closed and we can't go to Tim Horton's as a treat. Even though we know this is only for a short time (praying it is so) how do we help those we support understand. How do we keep them meaningfully occupied. Post below how you have been keeping occupied. Are you looking for ideas? Private message me to discuss how I can help you at this time.

Well it's been a full week since we learnt about the school shut down. And since then social gatherings have been discouraged. And we as adults wonder what is to come of all this. Our children and adults who we care for and support have had their daily life disrupted. Yet we continue on for what other choice do we have as caregivers? We are an essential service whether these are our own children or people who we support. And we wouldn't change it for anything. BUT I en...courage you to remember to take care of yourself. Even a 5 minute break on the front porch can give you the boost you need. There are many websites that are now available for free that cover a range of activities and self-care. I have looked at some and watched others (the penguins going for a walk is adorable). I will start to post websites that may be of interest. If you come across one that you really like post it here. If you are looking for something specific you can message me as well as email [email protected]. As a sign I saw posted on someone's front porch said...We are in this together! See more
