True words. Please support local folks. In this season when giving truly is better than receiving, give gifts from local businesses, products, services, or gift cards. Your recipient will thank you, the business will thank you, the employees of the business will thank you and you will have the benefit of helping many with that one simple act.

My cup overflows with your blessings.

The Pearl Eatery 03.11.2020

Long post alert Throughout this past 11 months I have received messages from friends, family and others I don't even know that have commended our family for our... strong faith. I am here to tell you that I myself have wavered, and I am weak, but every time I waver or doubt our faithful God uses his people, to show me that I can trust in him. Here below is just one night's events that once again proves to me that our God is in the details. Our youngest son Chris was traveling from his home in Tacoma Washington to PEI to quarantine and then hopefully spend some precious time with Camden and family during these difficult days. Together we had completed every step necessary for this to happen. Get a letter from a physician, get site visit authorizations, communicate with Chief public health for covid testing, Apply for entry into Canada, apply for quarantine exception (in the event that things move too quickly), apply for entry into New Brunswick for travel through the province. Yes, every single detail - except one that we had completely overlooked. Christopher is not a resident of PEI - he needed the approval to travel to PEI. This is where it felt like the wheels fell off. Please read below 11:00pm Rod and I are just chilling on the couch anxiously awaiting the arrival of our son Christopher to PEI. 12:00am text from Chris that his driver was ready and waiting for him at the Moncton airport (arranged by some of our dear friends) and he was now on his way to PEI 1:13am My phone rings, it's Chris. "Mom do I need anything to show them at the bridge? I reply no, you don't. He then states "the peace officer is asking for a pre-approval form for travel. I confidently state, No Chris you are allowed to come to PEI because you are a res...and then it hit me. Chris is NOT a resident of PEI. The panic sets in immediately. I ask him to please let me explain to the officer. Of course, the officer understands our situation and is sympathetic but the order is clear...no approval no entry. Chris will have to return to New Brunswick until approval is granted. The driver who had made plans on PEI for the following day tried his darnedest to reason and get them to make an exception to no avail. Ultimately, I told Chris I would get off the phone to find someone to drive him to New Brunswick. We are in quarantine ourselves so cannot leave our property. 1:35am I called my sister to ask her to go to get Chris and drive him to New Brunswick. Where in New Brunswick was her question? I replied to the closest hotel I can find who will answer their phone and take him in, I will let you know. 1:40am Chris sent his driver on to PEI and sat alone in a checkpoint tent waiting for a ride back to New Brunswick. 1:50 I reached a hotel and someone answered the phone, only 45 minutes from the bridge. 2:00 I complete the travel application online for Chris and submit 2:40 I decided that I should message Brad Trivers (our MLA) on Facebook in hopes that he would see it first thing in the morning. I have never contacted an MLA or MP for anything in my life but I just hoped that somehow he might be able to help in some way. 2:50 My sister now has Chris in her car and is headed to the hotel in New Brunswick. 3:00 I decided I should also email my request to BRad Trivers in case Facebook isn't the first thing he does every morning. 3:26 Brad Trivers messages me that has been following our journey and he will see what he can do. 3:40 Chris arrives at the hotel 4:00 Brad Trivers messages that he also now has my email and he is working on it. I thank him and ask, shouldn't you be sleeping? To which he replies, I woke up feeling like I should check my phone. 4:30 I fall asleep 7:00 I wake up wondering why I am awake so soon. 5 minutes later my messenger pings. It is Brad Trivers telling me that Dr. Heather Morrison and Minister Thompson both replied personally to his messages and the approval has been granted and the checkpoint is ready to receive Chris. 7:30 We call another pair of our dear friends to ask if they will go to retrieve Chris from New Brunswick 9:30 Chris is in the car headed back to PEI 11:00 Chris has his first covid test 11:45 Chris is delivered to his place of quarantine. I cannot convey how humbling it is to live in a place where the hearts of the people are so caring and compassionate and reflect the great natural beauty that we all benefit from every single day on PEI. Thank you once again to all of those in this situation for showing great love to our family, and for being the hands and feet of Jesus in every way, while we are hurting. The Kingyens Family
