Copied from a Bayfield Business owner. I have been thinking about the Municipality’s recent decision to get organized and potentially either ban or start a fee to use a sandwich board sign on Main St. As most of you know, I own a commercial building which is the home to five wonderful businesses. They use sandwich boards to draw people in. They are colourful and well maintained. So my issue is this. Why this year? Why hassle our merchants this year? Have they not got enough ...on their plates to deal with economically and emotionally? We should all be shopping locally this year, we have amazing shop owners on Main St. This is the year we really need to be mindful of where we spend our money and who we choose to support. The municipality, in my mind, would do better to help lift up these businesses this year and not add more stress to already over burdened good business people. When I first heard of this, my original thought was, where is the urgency? So I say to our Municipal government, kindly back off this year, our merchants have enough to worry about without this very trivial problem. Show that the local government really cares about its citizens please, it will serve you better in the future if you do. Sorry, I ran on for a bit but hopefully I made my point. Share it if you’d like, maybe someone in the powers that be will read this. See more
