The Twinkies

These two turn 6 tomorrow! SIX! Their nanny organized a parade by our house at 6pm on May 25th. If you’d like to join the #covidbirthdayparade, the meeting place is at the end of Dacey Rd by the river. They’ll be driving down River Rd towards Parkshore Dr.

I’ve been informed that I’ve been slacking on Twinkie updates. Here’s the current FYI on all things Twinkie... GEORGIA: - thinks she rules the world and everyone in it (definitely doesn’t get this from her momma) - told me today that she wanted to help me make a recipe. When I asked her what she wanted to make, she said a classic ... - informed us this week that the Coronavirus started because someone ate a snake in China (not a bad theory) - I told her she had a good memory last week and she told me she had been working on it since she’s been a baby ?! - Is a hardcore mommas girl - Asks if she can go to Newfoundland every other week - Has drawn a line down her chest because she wants a battle scar like Charlie - loves her sister, loves school, loves gymnastics, - Will talk to anyone, anytime about anything CHARLIE: - Has the sweetest heart and would do anything for anybody - If I forget something or make a mistake, she reminds me that she still loves me and that I can still be her owner - Would eat broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and salmon for breakfast, lunch and super - Obsessed with horses, legos and has a newfound love of Paw Patrol again - Is a hardcore daddy’s girl - Loves to hear stories about her surgery and acts like she’s going to Disneyworld when I tell her we’re going back to SickKids in May - Loves Newfoundland just as much as her sister - Loves to make up words to songs by inserting the word poop or poopy wherever she thinks it’s the funniest - Loves her sister, enjoys school 3 out of 5 days, and loves gymnastics

We’re selling red t-shirts to raise awareness for congenital heart disease and giving back to SickKids for all they have done for our family! T-shirts are $20 and all proceeds raised go the SickKids Labatt Family Heart Center. The back of the t-shirt has the names of 23 local heart kids including the name of our very own Charlie Bear Let me know if you’d like one. Order is going in on Feb 14th

First day of Senior Kindergarten

Well here we are again. Tomorrow is Charlie's annual cardiac checkup. This year will be a little different for us as both her cardiologist AND surgeon have left SickKids in the last 6 months. They were the only two people who followed her case before she was even born. While I still believe SickKids is amazing, I'm honestly a little terrified that she'll have an entirely new care team. We LOVED Dr. Golding and Dr. Van Arsdell but as much as I'll miss them, we have to be than...kful for the time we had with them as they saw Charlie through the hardest part of her journey and she might not be here today without them. Charlie is Charlie and she'll do what she does best....be a rock-star and amaze them all with the progress she's made. Keep us in your thoughts tomorrow UPDATE - MAY 30TH - AFTER A VERY LONG DAY IN TORONTO, WE GOT HOME LAST NIGHT AT 9PM. SO HAPPY TO REPORT THAT CHARLIES HEART HAS NOT WORSENED WHICH IS GREAT NEWS. THEY WERE VERY HAPPY WITH HER AND SAID THEY WON'T NEED TO SEE HER AGAIN UNTIL NEXT YEAR!!
