ONLINE UPDATE! Hello, hoping you all had a good weekend and enjoyed the few bouts of sunshine. I spent most of my Sunday in my sewing area organizing my stash. Oh my, what a job that is. Have you heard of ruler folding? It's a great way to fold your fabrics so that you have neat tidy towers which I then organize by colour. Here's how to do it. Roll your fabric on your 24" ruler just like it's on a bolt in the store. When you come to the end slide your ruler out and fold the w...idth in half. What you end up with is a very neat fold of fabric that measures 6 x 11. It fits perfectly on a book shelf. I'll send you a picture in the next post. It won't be perfect as I am assuming I'll never be done, but at least you'll have an idea of what I am going for. Now on to shop stuff...You can now register for our "Online Classes" on our website, we are adding more and more fabrics to our site as well. Someone asked me how I know which fabrics to add. That's a tough decision. Firstly I choose fabrics that I know I can get more of which right now is hard as orders are taking forever. Going forward we will add fabrics as they arrive. You can also see these fabrics on instagram. There is no way to know whether I will be able to repeat on NEW fabrics so order them while they're in stock. If there is something you know we usually carry or think we have, send us a picture, if we have it we'll let you know. Keep sending in questions by email and we will get back to you. Pease try not to call us by phone if it can be avoided as it is really hard to track orders and remember conversations when we are so busy. It's been a few weeks since I updated you with what's happening at Ultimate Sewing Centre. To say the least we have been insanely busy with active Christmas shoppers. It seems that most are in agreement to shop while they can because who knows what will happen next week. Well, I kind of agree but in my case I'm more worried about what will be in stock. I have been ordering more of our most popular fabrics, notions and machines and well...they are out of stock. In my 40 years ...of retail I have never experienced anything like this before. Appointment shopping, now more than ever will be the way to go. I don't want you standing out in the cold, (literally) PLEASE MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SHOP, it's easy, just call us. So going forward, here's what's happening.... As much as I would like to have a big Black Friday Sale I think it would be unwise. We don't need to go into detail, you know why. MY TIME OFF..... Not that I worked in a hammock, I'd never be able to get out, but I just spent the last week at home catching up on a lot of work and planning for the months to come. Sew it's time to share... LESSONS....starting September 15 I will be giving one or two lessons at 4 p.m. after the store is closed. This is a service for those that have purchased their machine during covid and have not had lessons. You will need to bring in your accessories and instruction book.... In some cases you may need to bring your machine as many machines are out of stock and therefore not on the floor. Please call and make an appointment. ONLINE SHOPPING....Yes it's time to enter the new world. Before long you will be able to shop online from Ultimate Sewing. I am hoping to have my online shop up and running mid October. In no way will this replace store shopping but for those of you effected by our shortened hours this will help. More information to follow soon. CLASSES....This is a work in progress. I am hoping that by January we will be able to resume our classes. My thought is to start with classes that were already in process when March Madness hit. There after we will start the classes that were scheduled. By March of 2021 we will start new classes. Fingers crossed. Finally a Canadian themed Christmas fabric! If only you knew how often I would look for fabrics and hidden in that print is an American Flag. Not that I have a problem with the States but...I'd much rather boast my Canadian Flag. Whether it's the main panel or the all overs the subtleties of Canadiana are there. This is a fabric is a Limited Edition that we ordered way back in February and will not be able to repeat on so if you are drawn to it don't hesitate.

I CANNOT DO IT (yet) I know this is a change and maybe not the most convenient but, I do not want you standing in line in the heat or in the rain I CANNOT DO IT (yet) Retail during this time is very challenging. Realizing that many stores have started to reopen, I feel pressured into doing the same. I CANNOT DO IT (yet) From ensuring everyone's safety to struggling to get stock, this is a new world for many retailers. I cannot see myself reopening and ...having line ups of customers waiting to come in. I feel very complimented that you want to shop at Ultimate Sewing so much that you would line up, but I CANNOT DO IT (yet). So now the challenge is how to make shopping safe, comfortable and convenient. I have decided that for the month of July we are going to continue with appointment shopping. I will extend the hours, 10 - 4, be somewhat flexible and hope for the best. Your safety and comfort and that of my staff is most important. I cannot see people lining up to shop in the heat or rain. Currently the front of the store measures 40+ degrees. Last week we had some terrible rains creep up out of nowhere. I do not want you to deal with that. So long and short here's my plan. Appointments will start at 10:00 and booked every 30 minutes thereafter. Appointments will not be granted by message or text, you MUST speak to us. You are encouraged to wear a mask when in contact with or talking to staff. We ask that you pay by visa, debit or mastercard, preferably tap. If you do not show for your appointment you will have to reschedule. You will be able to drop off or pick up your machines without an appointment. You will be able to pick up pre ordered items without appointment. As before you must email your order, include your telephone number. All curbside orders must be prepaid by visa or mastercard. Orders placed by 11 am. will be ready same day. No Phone Number, No Order...sorry. You will be able to walk in without an appointment provided there are less than 3 customers in the store. I recommend that you drop in at 15 minutes to and 15 minutes after the hour. Appointment shoppers will be prioritized. Please announce yourself at the door we will let you know when you can come in. Riley has been so busy! Great design idea of changing up a Christmas panel for an apron for Father’s Day. He is doing an amazing job of learning to sew, designing and being creative this apron was double sided as he incorporated a pocket on the reverse side! ! Way to go Riley!
