The Washeteria will be Closed all week from November 30 to Friday December 4. We will resume operations on Saturday December 5. Stay safe folks.

Gifts of Grace Street Mission has had to once again curtail our activities due to Covid restrictions. We are not able to go out and serve our street friends. We... have distributed the food we had in storage to various organizations in need, so when we start up again when the smoke ( virus) clears, we will again be like Mother Hubbard... ( bare cupboard). Anyway in the meantime there is something we CAN do. Main Street Project Inc. is planning their biggest ever holiday donation drive. Please help us gather needed items so they can put together over 500 gift packages to ensure that each of our community members has their own gift to open the morning of December 25th. As an essential service, we are open for business maintaining regular business hours. Maximum of 10 people at a time. Only 4 folding tables out and a few sitting chairs. All knobs, buttons, handles, tables and entire flooring sanitized with appropriate water/bleach solution. Ready to receive customers. Yes that’s a couch on the dryers. As you all are aware, during the onset of the global pandemic regarding the Covid-19 virus in these troubling times, most retail, restaurants and service businesses in Winnipeg are either closing their storefronts, or practicing self-isolation, relying on pickup, delivery etc. The Washeteria, however, will and MUST remain open until legislation were to dictate otherwise. People and families should continue to observe the best levels of cleanliness and hygiene possible, incl...uding regular clothes washing, during the pandemic. Access to services is particularly important for customers who some are among low-income families with few alternatives to neighbourhood laundromats for clothes washing. Since The Washeteria is the only laundromat in Manitoba whom are members of the Coin Laundry Association of North America, we are taking advantage of their invaluable recourses and science-based recommendations in regards to taking extra precautions and intensified laundry-specific cleaning procedures. When arriving here, please; -practise ‘social distancing’ by staying 1 to 2 metres apart from one another. Or wait in your vehicle if applicable. -no dirty laundry in baskets in regards to sorting clothes. -please sort clothes at home if possible -do not shake-out dirty clothes before setting them in the washing machines -when making transactions, avoid moistening your finger with your tongue when separateing bills and please avoid storing your cash or cards in your undergarments, handing them to us to receive. *These unsanitary habits observed everywhere is unfortunately commonplace and should be discouraged* Just remember that we are here for you, the community and the city of Winnipeg. Let’s all do our part in these troubling and unpredictable times. And please be especially mindful of the vulnerable people, the elderly and family around you and your community. Power is back on and we are now open!

The Washeteria currently has no electric power. Neither does the 7-Eleven next-door. It’s due to a condo development fire north of the concordia overpass. We will remain closed until power is restored.
