Summer breeze...

The Arner Farm 28.12.2020

Today was Minnie Jane (nee Adams) Arner's birthday. She would have been 137 years old. She lived to see her 100th birthday, passing away in 1980. She and her husband Alfred Arner Sr. were the second generation to live at the Arner Farm at 865 Arner Townline. Charles Arner the 1st built it, and they developed it into, what was referred to by a friend of my grandfather's as, a Ponderosa. People came to take family pictures in front of their picturesque farm. There were orchards..., flower gardens, a fruit and vegetable garden, and of course acres upon acres of grazing land for the dairy cows. This is before the industrialized farm methods had taken over and shut down all the old-fashioned farms, I suppose. They also grew tobacco for a long time, and had chickens, pigs and horses. It was something I have always wished I could have seen. They worked hard, and were successful because of it. I share what I know here to help carry on their legacy with honour and respect. See more

This Sunday is the big day! A garden party celebrating Eric's 40 years of...? Anyways, let's get together, reminisce, and look to the future through beer goggles. We also have root beer for those who like to steer clear. Contact Eric Arner if you are interested in coming out. Food provided, BYOB.

The exact date isn't confirmed, but I'm having some kind of 40th lap around the sun celebration at the farm in early August. A family-friendly event early on and it might be a bit less PG as the night goes on, so, pretty standard stuff really. The twist this time will be an acoustic jam session. Perhaps Saturday, August 8th?
