Today was a full day at Camp Chikepak Online but was SO much fun! I hosted a Jam making session earlier and this late afternoon was our Paint Along activity! We imagined our toes in the sand at Camp Bickell from previous years and created our own little guided oasis. Thanks everyone for the enthusiastic participation!

We announced a CONTEST on the last day of our workshop last Thursday. The challenge was to complete one of the art activities we did within our 3 days (you can see all the past live streams in the video section of my page). A draw will take place THIS Wednesday so get your entries in of either a worry doll, your superhero body drawing, your worry stone, or your talking stick! Making traditional Bannock with a twist! Lor Brand Co. Earrings - https://instagram.com/lorbrand?igshid=1kiog6sxyyi38 Pampered Chef products - Barb Duffin - Your Pampered Chef Consultant... Bannock Recipe (Thank you Janis Wabano and her Auntie H) Ingredients: - 2 cups flour - 2 tbsp baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional) - 1/8 lard (can substitute with olive oil) - Approximately 1 cup warm water - Grease option for pan (lard, pam, etc.) - Toppings of choice for art! (rasins, crasins, pepper, onion/chives, tomato, basil, spinach, etc etc etc!) Instructions: Set oven to 375 degrees. Combine dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Cut in lard or oil into your flour until fully incorporated. Gradually mix in your warm water until you reached desired dough consistency, knead the dough when you are unable to stir (not too sticky or loose and not to firm or dry). Grease your pan (I used a standard loaf pan size, but you can use smaller if you want your dough thicker). Add in your dough and push to the outside edges. Add your toppings of choice to create a little work of art! Bake for 40-45 minutes (or longer if your oven requires!) If you're in a rush, you can bake at 400 degrees for 23-25 minutes (again, oven depending) Once out of the oven, lightly butter, and rest covered until ready to serve under a tea towel. ENJOY! I did both Indian Tacos and with jam depending on my toppings. Truly delicious! \

Meet our COVID cast from the Muskeg spreading awareness and safety tips! Sometimes it can be challenging for our younger youth to understand the changes that ar...e happening in our world right now. These characters were created to show a friendly face to assist in sharing the safety measures that have been advised so far. Good afternoon camper parents! Because of the province-wide shutdown of all camps this summer, we are having conversations about how we can offer an online camp... experience this summer. We think we can do it but will need some community support to help us distribute supplies, assist some campers with digital connections etc. We have 2 questions: 1. Would your kids be interested in a shortened online experience for camp this year? 2. Would you be able to give us some assistance if needed to make this happen? Every week we will be rele...asing a music video from volume 8 of N'we Jinan Records, as well as interviewing some of the talented youth involved in the making. We'll also be featuring a professional artist every week to learn more about their practice! These artists will be issuing new challenges every week, so tune in, get inspired, learn some new creative skills and join the #windcarrierschallenge! Prizes are awarded every week for Indigenous participants (aged 25 years and under).
