We're one of a group of performing arts companies from across the country that are commissioning ultra-short works in response to the question: What would it take to transform our society for the betterment of all? The national Transformations project is being hosted by the National Arts Centre of Canada, and is featuring work from some of Canada’s most innovative artists in video, audio and text. This project recognizes a desire among Canada’s arts workers for our country to move towards a more equitable system. The first 20 works go live TODAY, so be sure to check them outit’s all free! Pedro Chamale, a founding member of rice & beans theatre (our former Company in Residence theatre company!), has contributed a piece titled "1100km." Find his piece, and others, here: https://nac-cna.ca/en/video/series/transformations

At the Arts Club, the month of October is particularly special; it's Planned Giving Month, where we recognize the generous members of our Legacy Circle. We would like to extend our gratitude to our Legacy Circle Sponsor, Bell Alliance LLP. In 2015, the Legacy Circle program was championed by Bell Alliance Founder Richard Bell, who went on to serve as Chair of the Arts Club Board of Directors during our 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. We are so appreciative of Richard’s contributions and Bell Alliance’s unwavering support for this program. "In the last few weeks, theatres have reopened with stringent COVID safety measures and expensive new livestreaming initiatives. But there are unsettling early signs that viewers are not showing up as hopedeither in person or online. And audiences need to understand that could mean even more drastically reduced programming in the new year." Janet Smith from Stir chatted with our Artistic Director, Ashlie Corcoran, about the current situation we're in and the challenges we're facing in our return to theatre.
