Sad news on Christmas Day with the passing of K.C. Jones. As a young boy I was mesmerized watching KC and the Boston Celtics battling against the LA Lakers & Wilt Chamberlain’s 76ers. KC won an incredible 8 championships in a row as a player and 2 as a head coach. He also won 2 NCAA Championships. Pic 3 is a pic by Bill Russell showing the last time the two great friends were together. Junior hockey athlete @maxgrondin of the @petesohlhockey trap bar deadlifting 520 lbs. The previous set he maxed out at 8 reps . In the video I stopped him at 6 reps. . #fitnesslife . . Staying fit is a priority and I find it exhilarating to get in a great workout . In addition to training athletes my mission is to get more Regular Joe’s to adopt the fitness life & nutritionally adopt a #plantbased lifestyle. .... For me #ageisnotanexcuse I have been plant based for 7 years and it fuels me to train as hard as I want. . Covered 65km yesterday along Lake Ontario & got in 3 rounds of push-ups, pull-ups & dips at the Sunnyside bar park. Average heart rate 75% of max and burned 2,000+ calories. . In addition, accidentally met up with my daughter and her fiancé (blue area in the middle). . Black people have been fighting for equal rights since slavery. . In 1968 a year after the 1967 rights riots swept across the U.S. Martin Luther King & Bobby Kennedy were assassinated. At the 1968 Summer Olympics (48 years before Colin Kaepernick took a knee) these iconic pictures were taken. . Black American athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos each raised a black-gloved fist during the playing of the US national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner". While on the podium, Smit...h and Carlos, who had won gold in a world record time of 19.83 and bronze medals respectively in the 200-meter running event of the 1968 Summer Olympics, turned to face the US flag and then kept their hands raised until the anthem had finished. In addition, Smith, Carlos, and Australian silver medalist Peter Norman all wore human-rights badges on their jackets. Here is one of my go to breakfast (or anytime for that matter) sandwiches . #eattowin #feelgreat . . It is nutrient dense & packed full of protein . . 2 toasted slices fully sprouted grain bread. Squirrelly by @silverhillsbakery .... My homemade oil free Edamame/Chickpea/Garlic hummus. Recipe below. Red onion. Tomato slices. Greens spinach & arugula. . HUMMUS. Blend or food processor. . 1/2 cup of water . . 3 or 4 garlic cloves. Blend. . 2 cups shelled edamame. Blend. . 1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice. . Salt & pepper to taste. . 15/16 oz can (drained) chickpeas. Blend again to smooth.
