UPDATE Nov 13 @ 1:30pm: The footnote is gone and a new section has been created with the following information! Please keep your questions/comments coming. Ban on group performing, singing, and dancing (Nov 13-27, for specific regions of the province): These activities can cause high risk of spread. They are often conducted in enclosed spaces and involve mixing and mingling before or after the class or activity. This ban applies to all performance activities, including rehear...sals, practice sessions, and performances. Does NOT apply to: *professional artists performing in professional performance venues, such as concert halls and theatres *schools, as these have additional measures in place to reduce the risk for staff and students *individual student/household and teacher setting (e.g., piano lessons) UPDATE Nov 13 @ 9:30am: The relevant footnote in the Targeted Public Health Measures information was updated last night to clarify that the ban on group performance "does not apply to schools or to professional artists in professional performance venues. We are still asking questions to provide further clarity and industry specific information, and are grateful to our colleagues in government who are working to get answers for us. In the meantime and as always, artist (pro! and am!) and worker (pro! and am!) safety should be everyone's top priority. ORIGINAL POST Nov 12: New public health measures to combat the rise in COVID-19 numbers were announced by the province this afternoon. These targeted measures include a temporary ban (from November 13-27) on 'group singing, dancing, and performing activities' in Edmonton and surrounding areas, Calgary and surrounding areas, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray, Red Deer, and Lethbridge. Not included in the ban are 'professional performance venues'. (see Nov 13 update above) We are looking into these measures and will share more info as soon as we can. In the meantime, please let us know what questions you may have or if there is anything you need that we can help with. https://www.alberta.ca/enhanced-public-health-measures.aspx

The Government of Alberta has declared a public health emergency and are enacting enhanced measures to combat the spread of COVID-19. The new measures include mandatory closures of concert venues and auditoria and reduced capacity for movie theatres, museums and galleries, and indoor entertainment and recreation facilities. We're uncertain, at this time, how these new restrictions affect current live theatre activities, particularly rehearsals and online performances. We're looking into this with Ministerial contacts and will share more information as soon as possible. As always, please let us know your questions and we'll do our best to provide clarity. https://www.alberta.ca/enhanced-public-health-measures.aspx
