They will be showcasing performing artists from MRC Pontiac, MRC Lower Gatineau Valley, and MRC Upper Gatineau Valley. Mark your calendars and RSVP to the Facebook event SATURDAY JULY 25 FROM 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM 100 Mile Artstream is a collaborative effort between 100 Mile Arts Network and A Different Tune (Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network) The pandemic has been a big shock to the arts community just as it has to many other communities, but we havent given up! Were thrilled to bring a digital event to the area and show how our community is going strong nonetheless. Moving to an online format brings us new opportunities and ways to connect. Share the event with your family and friends. You dont have to be from the area just to enjoy our art! With this were hoping to broaden our audience and support the local community. Were entering a new age where we can stick together while staying safe. #newnormal

We are excited to introduce the 100 Mile Arts Network's summer student coordinator, Maya Skarzenski. She will be with us for the summer and will be helping a great deal with the many projects we are working to bring to you over the comings weeks and months. She is the perfect fit for the Network and brings an amazing background in the arts. Maya is a recent graduate from OCAD University with a Bachelors in Fine Arts. While in school, she was very active in the Toronto arts c...ommunity, but since graduating, has moved back to her home in the Outaouais region. Maya grew up on a farm in Low, 15 minutes away from Wakefield, and is now really keen on getting to know the local community better. An emerging artist and curator, working in textiles, painting, and photography, The 100 Mile Arts Network is a very exciting project that resonates with her. While in Toronto, Maya had to be very self-motivated and create her own opportunities. Organizing art exhibitions for herself and other artist which helped her develop strong communication and organizational skills. The process of connecting artists and finding opportunities for them brought her a lot of joy. Organizing shows and events has made her very comfortable contacting and soliciting artists and others within the arts field. Working on her projects , she's had to find venues, contact people for collaborations and market the events. Maya also brings a lot of digital media experience having designed her own website and constantly managing her social media platforms with engaging content. During an internship at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Maya learned about art education, worked on developing different art activities, and learned about museum programming. We are thrilled to have her and look forward to introducing her at our upcoming events. For more information about the 100 Mile Arts Network go the the web site at https://www.100milearts.net/

Theatre Wakefield, is delighted to announce the hiring of comedian Julien Dionne to the position of Project Manager at the 100 Mile Arts Network, effective immediately. The 100 Mile Arts Network is a project of Theatre Wakefield, begun two years ago to build audiences for the performing arts throughout the Western Quebec region and bring cultural events to places that have had limited access in the past. It aims to provide touring support to artists and groups, strengthen art...s presentation capacity among community groups, and build collaboration networks. A lot has been done already, as evidenced on the Network's website: 100milearts.net. You may have seen or heard Julien in his role as comedian on CBC, SiriusXM Radio, comedy clubs and festivals across the country. He also is represented by Juste pour rire Management in French. But while his experience as a performing artist certainly lines up with the intents of the 100 Mile Arts Network, Dionne has an array of other talents and experience including marketing, event animation, touring, podcasting and broadcasting, that make him even more ideal for his new position. Current times present new challenges, and one of the ways the Theatre Wakefield board has responded to this is by planning to go digital with streaming/recording capabilities that might be available to venues and artists in the 100 Mile Arts Network. Julien has a deep background in online production and presentation, so will be an invaluable addition to these efforts. Theatre Wakefield would like to acknowledge the support of the Department of Canadian Heritage and the Municipalité de La Pêche for the 100 Mile Arts Network project

Free Dramaturgy for original play scripts This year, Theatre Wakefield continues its free sponsored program of assistance to playwrights and playwrights-in-the-making primarily from the Ottawa/Gatineau/Outaouais region as it looks for new original scripts to be performed by our company. If selected, what free service will you receive?... - Guidance by Actor/Director/Author/Dramaturge Peter James Haworth to help focus your ideas and images. - Peter will read each draft and give detailed notes on structure, character, dialogue and other elements. The writer will then work on a second draft bearing in mind the comments provided and upon which Peter will again comment in detail. By the end of the summer, each playwright will have submitted three drafts. Peter will read the third draft mainly in consideration of the development of the script. For selected plays, New Works provides a Professional Workshop of one script in the fall, a public reading of another at our TaDa! Festival in mid-September, a tour of one or more in the Outaouais Region as readings, the possibility of one becoming our mainstage production in the future and the possibility of scripts being included in a digest to be made available for reading. Timeline: Deadline to declare intention to submit script is now April 15, 2020. Scripts are read on a first come basis, so the sooner they are submitted, the sooner they are read. Grant Writing Workshop from the 100 Mile Arts Network Team Funding applications and grant writing was one of the most requested workshops and we originally had it planned for March. So here we are!... FREE ONLINE WORKSHOP GRANT WRITING FOR THE CANADA COUNCIL We would much prefer to deliver these face-to-face, but obviously that is not possible now. So were doing the next best thing: well deliver a slimmed down version online via Zoom. Yes, were all new to that, too, but it's actually fairly easy. Peter Gillies of Bucksprout (you may have met him at the December Showcase) has been working with individuals and not-for-profits in the cultural sector for many years visual and performing artists, historical societies, festivals, museums and other cultural facilities. He's the Grant Writer of choice for many. Session 1: If you dont have time to do it right, you dont have time to do it twice Understand and start to create the fundamental elements of a Canada Council grant. Use the strong application checklist. This session is online using the Zoom platform. Session 2: Feedback Time - Individual sessions - send in a draft and get it reviewed. Ask questions. If this is your first app to CC, you must have participated in Session 1. Depending on the response we may have to put a cap on the # of applications Peter will review SO ACT NOW. Its first-come-first-served. This session can be done via Zoom or telephone. Propel yourself towards submission on April 22! Peter has put together an overview of how to apply for Canada Council money with straightforward tips on how to do it and how to phrase it. You can view or download it from the 100 Mile Website
