ARTICLE ALERT! Written by our founder Victoria Velenosi "Who knows, we might discover that the rules we have been playing by havent applied for a long time, and we emerge from this crisis forever stronger."
This is good news. Artists and gig-workers are having their voices heard!! "Trudeau said there will be adjustments to the program in the coming days to include... people such as gig workers, contractors and volunteer firefighters who work 10 or fewer hours per week. He also said there would be support for those who continue to work but are making less than they would through CERB, such as home care workers or people caring for vulnerable seniors in long-term care facilities." I love this article, and I keep coming back to it. Theatre schools (in my experience) really need to catch up to the world that they are preparing students for, and this curriculum looks like a great place to start: "Using Chicagos Storefront Theatre Model as the Foundation for a Theatre Curriculum... When describing storefront theatre to colleagues outside of Chicago, I focus on four areas: *the creative use of small spaces *the creative ability to problem-solve with limited resources *the intimate actoraudience dynamic *the cross-trained artist. Each of these parts highlights a vital aspect necessary for making successful theatre in Chicago, yet these areas are not exclusive to Chicago and have been explored by others in different ways at different times." http://people.uleth.ca//4850_files/Storefront%20Theatre.pdf

We certainly think so... "...if the city really wants to take its arts scene global and get noticed it will need to take risks, said Dave Bidini, a Toronto musician and writer. The Toronto arts scene is growing - from the ground up!... http://www.metronews.ca//is-toronto-poised-for-an-art-rena
