FAQ: *When can babies start floating? Babies can start floating as early as 2 weeks old. Being submerged into warm water from the shoulders down gives a feeling of weightlessness, which is a very familiar environment to them. *What is the max age for massage?... In a group setting that would be about 6 months old. Once babies are a bit mobile, they don't tend to stay put and ends up being a wrestling match for Mom. In a private session if the parent wants to learn techniques then the age cut off would be about 9-10 months. *Do I float with my baby? No, your baby will float in their own private tub, just like a bath at home. *Do I need to bring anything? The only items you need to bring are those you would normally for an outing, everything is supplied. Swim diapers, towels, etc. If you have your own swim diaper, you're welcome to bring that along. *What is the max age for Floating? The ages of 2 weeks-6 months are ideal for floating although willing babies can be up to about 9-10 months of age. Everyone is different and have different tolerances. Once babies are a little bigger and more independent, sometimes they find the float a bit restricting and don't appreciate that. For theses Littles, there are other options. *Do I need to come early? No, please don't be early for your session at this time. Due to pandemic restrictions, time is scheduled between sessions for cleaning and prep. Some clients choose to be here privately and would rather not cross paths with others on their way out. *Can my husband come with us? Yes of course! The Baby Spa is a great place for some quality family time. Each baby is allowed up to 2 guests. *Can I come with a friend? Absolutely! Well, we dodged another "lockdown" in today's announcement! But I can't shake the feeling that it's still coming at some point. I've had a few conversations this week with Moms who are concerned about everything shutting down again, which is the motivation behind this long post. For some, The Baby Spa has been the only outing they feel comfortable taking their baby to. Please know this...we will keep our doors open as long as we possibly can. Every day I'm thanked for the ...services we offer at The Baby Spa, not only for all of the benefits they see their little ones receiving from floating and/or massage, but for the clean and safe space where moms can socialize and visit together with their babies. Safety and cleanliness are always top priority here and we will continue to follow all AHS guidelines. Although, we are not offering private sessions anymore, when you book a session, there will only ever be one other baby and their guest(s) at the spa at the same time as you are. Unless a group is requested by the person booking, then they would have the spa to themselves. There's plenty of room to distance and space yourselves from each other comfortably and safely. All sessions are spaced a part to allow for cleaning in between and to minimize crossing paths with each other. Although, sometimes it happens and that's out of our control. Every day I fear the announcement of another lockdown and I want to say THANK YOU to every parent who has brought their child to the spa since it opened in June. Thank you for trusting me with your little ones and supporting this small business. Even if you have only come once, or you come regularly, or don't come at all and just follow for all of the adorable pictures that are posted everyday-the support is truly appreciated. The Baby Spa has been open for only 5 months and is still very vulnerable, especially during this time. Opening a business during a pandemic was never in "the plan"! The support and warm welcome we have received by the community and surrounding areas is overwhelming, thank you and I really hope that we and all other small businesses survive this pandemic. Supporting local has never been more important than it is now. I will keep the doors open for as long as I possibly can through all the restrictions that may come about, I'm fighting and I won't give up, it's just not an option. I feel The Baby Spa is essential, it certainly has proven to be in the last few months with the slim selections of activities for moms and their babies. I love what I do and I love spending my days with you and your little ones! Many interesting conversations have been had and a few baby snuggles from those of you who offer, thank you. Some of todays cuteness

Facial expressions are one of the tools babies use to learn how to communicate. The emotions they express are often fueled from the parents expressions. Its how they learn to read a situation or gauge an experience and thats so important for their development. If your face is covered, its difficult for them to do that. I have found that some of the babies coming to the spa really dont like the masks and with not being as socialized as they normally would be without a p...andemic it can be uneasy for them. Add that to me being a stranger with a mask on, some can feel a little uneasy in a new environment and with a new experience. Although, most of the babies that have come are happy and willing, it seems some may take a little longer to warm up and relax and its important to me that EVERY baby has a positive experience. They will often look to Mom and Dad for reassurance and to read the situation. So, today was a test. Protection is still needed at the spa to protect these precious Littles so I switched to a full face shield to see if it helped ease the little ones emotions. This way they can SEE me and communicate with me using expression as I guide them through their spa experience and it worked like a charm! Happy babies all day! See more
