Read for at-home shellac/gel removal process! At this point no one’s nails are on point, so don’t feel bad! If you’re needing any at-home mani tips, reach out to us, we’re happy to help. WHAT YOU’LL NEED ... * nail file or buffer - to remove the shine from the nail polish * PURE acetone (cannot be an acetone-based nail polish remover - this still contains oils/hydrating ingredients that will hinder the removal process) * tin foil - cut into rectangles 3 inches by 4 inches - the foil is needed to keep fumes low and also adds heat to speed up the process * cotton balls/pads - if using cotton pads cut into 2 * cuticle pusher or wood stick to scrape polish off PROCESS * use the buffer or nail file to remove the shine from the nail - this breaks up the top coat which is the toughest part of the polish (what allows it to be so long lasting) * soak the cotton in pure acetone and place onto the nail * use the tin foil to wrap the cotton onto the nail securely The easiest method for doing this on yourself is to place the foil on the underside of your finger about half way down, fold up the sides one at a time and lastly fold up the front, and squish together. **Leave the foil on for 8-10 minutes! If you have a harder gel polish on then you may need to remove and gently scrape and apply again for a few more minutes. The goal is to have the polish broken down enough that it will flake and be easily removed. If you have to scrape hard or peel then you haven’t left it soaking long enough. Give your nails a good buff afterward to remove any remaining base coat and finish with cuticle oil and/or hand cream. Let us know below if you’re going to try this out! ~ D & J #thebeautyroomoshawa
