Well who knew we would find this as insulation?!

Perhaps some of you have noticed there are changes coming for us here at the motel....an eatery, a fruit and veg outlet and hopefully a quilting material outlet too. Updates to follow as the project progresses.....

We will be moving forwards post haste with a rolling program of room uplifts......plus a new build ......watch this space for updates!

Peace and tranquility has returned to Bell Mountain Motel! Apologise to all who may have been disturbed by 2 rooms of disruptive, badly behaving, squatters who have been making their presence felt herr in McBride.

Sad to say smoke from the US fires has reached McBride.

Change of season in progress here in McBride...

We ARE still open for contractors and emergency one night stop overs. We are following all the government advice for covid 19 which in practical terms for guests are keys being disinfected between guests, all door handles and taps being disinfected alongside our normal stringent all surface cleaning. Apologies for lack of posts for a while - had some serious health issues which have been resolved by amazing surgeons in Vancouver in VGH and rehab hospital afterwards.

From May 31st to June 3rd the hot tub, BBQ, towels and showers are available for day users and visitors to McBride; $20 for individuals, $50 for families.

At the end of a May wednesday....

So the latest updates for any sledders still thinking about final runs are...Lucille is still in good shape, Belle has dirt patches for the first 5 - 7 kms and staging is just past the collection shack and Renshaw was last groomed on April 13th. Another 10 - 12" of snow has fallen too.

From a sledder today " Belle was crusty in the morning and slushy in the afternoon. The parking lot was good. Renshaw was good with just a few small bare spots."

For the sledders for today ..... (1) Lucille - conditions good. (2) Renshaw - conditions good, a few marked hazards to watch for (3) Belle - go 3kms past parking lot, turn rt at collection shack and then go up trails on snow. For latest updates by trail groomer call 250 - 569 - 8871 for recorded details.

Comments from todays sledders...." Quite tracked out, but good snow for building jumps"....

New Brits in Canada - got a lot to learn! More of the white stuff fell last night, but has not lasted here in the valley. Sledders still coming through for this coming weekend and the next, I will give updates on conditions as I can get them....

As of Friday March 22nd there is still 10ft of snow on Lucille, plus the staging area still has snow. The conditions are wet and sticky, but the trail access is in great condition. For Spring riding the conditions are great! BUT the avalanch risk is high. A video coming from a sledders ride this morning........

There has been a small change of plans and we will be here until March 12. The new owners have arrived on the Property for a few days training and settling in. (and getting over their jet lag). Its another beautiful day in the Valley. Have a great weekend.

Well.....Belle is moving, and she is taking us with her! Yes we have sold the motel to some lovely folks and we are retiring. Its been a fast and furious 7 years and we have met lots of great people from all over the world. We especially enjoyed all our regulars during sledding season and all our CN guys who some have stayed with us since the beginning. We will miss you all. Thank you so much for all your support through the years and for your friendship. We hope you continue to support the new owners so they can make it even better. Our last day will be on March 9 2019. So if you want to visit Belle after that.... you will have to come to Dome Creek. Cheers.

Ok... enough of this cold weather (-34C this morning). Burrrrr But the weather man is telling us its suppose to be warming up by Thursday. Keep warm everyone.

Baby its cold outside....but oh so beautiful

Well, there should be a mountain of snow on the hills today. We got lots in the village. Its a balmy -17C when i just cleared off the thermometer from all the blowing snow. Burrrr. Be safe out there today.

Winter storm warning!!!!!!!!!! Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning that includes up to 30+ cm of snow with high winds. This is to be followed by temperature drops into the -20 to -30 range. The snow is forecast to start Thursday night and taper off by saturday. Please travel safe.

Its a lovely day in the neighborhood! We got a bunch (technical term for quite a bit) of new snow in the past 24 hours. So James gets to have some fun clearing the parking lot today.
