This is the very same spot John Giesbrecht sits when he calls his friends and family asking to support The Big Move Cancer Ride. I sit in this chair and call everyone I know, says John Giesbrecht. When I tell people I am asking for donations toward the Walker Family Cancer Centre, they are always willing to support. At the age of 92, John does everything he can to rally for Niagara Health’s Walker Family Cancer Centre and encourages his fellow community members to be supp...ortive. Some of his donations are received from as far as Winnipeg & Ottawa. The Walker Family Cancer Centre has built a positive reputation in the Niagara community. There are no hurdles when it comes to fundraising for a good cause. People give what they can and that is more than I could ever ask for. All it takes is a little ‘chutzpah’ as my Jewish friends would say to focus their thinking. John is the father of Dr. Janice Giesbrecht, Chief of Oncology at the Walker Family Cancer Centre. John directs these donations toward her Big Move riding team, The Walker Family Cancer Centre. Of course, I am always trying to support my daughter’s efforts as the Chief of Oncology while raising funds for local cancer care. For 13 years, John has been a strong advocate for Walker Family Cancer Centre and the Big Move Cancer Ride helping his daughter, Janice, raise over $236,000. John is also motivated by his wife Agnes who succumbed to cancer in 1999. Over $4 million has been raised for The Big Move.

Congratulations Sherry’s Promise! Your combined efforts to raise $50,000 or more as a Big Move Cancer Ride team means the Niagara Health Foundation recognizes you as Platinum Peddlers. Sherry’s Promise not only raised over $72,000 for local cancer care, but they did it in one year! That is an accomplishment that has not been achieved by many. Team captain, Anthony DiFrusia, was inducted as an individual Platinum Peddler last year.... Thanks to your efforts, patients are getting the best treatment and care possible, and continue to feel supported on their individual journey with cancer. Your hard work is an inspiration to the Niagara Health Foundation and many others across Niagara who have become motivated by your example to support The Big Move Cancer Ride. Your passion and drive are inspiring. Thank you for your support.
